Description My first piece in pastels. The title came from a severe-needs boy I worked with in the past. I thought about him as I was creating this. The original is on 9"x12" illustration board

pastels are so much fun to work, unfortunatly i have absolutly no talent for them what so ever, this really impressive and outstanding for your first pastel piece

And again, I thank you for the compliments. I am currently working on my largest pastel, an 18x24, of another dreamscape. As far as you questioning your pastel talent abilities, I think the trick is in the finger blending. I have to color and blend and color and blend over and over to get an area just how I want it. I also wash my hands about a dozen times so as not to blend the wrong colors with what's already on my fingers. Just play around with wiping and rubbing. It's fun, if nothing else.

oh i'm looking forward to it yup i think the messy part is the best part of pastels, unless your doing it in class and forget to wash your face before you leave for work, thought that did amuse my boss

Yes, I too have ended up looking like an Apache cheif heading into battle. Pastels are great for that.

The colors are awesome, and it is very emotative (is that a word?) and striking. I love the way the eye just drifts over the whole picture by following the flow of the lines. Very niiiice!

I was really reluctant to try pastels. A friend bought them for me for my birthday in July, and it took me until today to tackle the venture. As I began it, I hated it, but in the end I believe I will continue to work with them and see how far I can go. This piece took about 2 hours, but only measures 9"x12". Next time I might go bigger. Thanks so much for the compliments!
