Description
On an alien planet the gravity is lighter and the shape of wildlife greatly differs as a result. Seemingly heavy animals can fly and glide with relative ease. Ocean waves and their particles are more erratic. Ocean dragons hover over the tides hunting for fish, and dodging the wild waves that pass by.
I did this in Photoshop. I just paid for an annual license recently and I figured I use it. I don't really love the interface and hotkeys in PS, but I don't hate it either. With some customization I can get used to it.
I also did something new with my painting style this time. I started all objects in black and white for value painting, then used clip layers to color. I think it worked out pretty well. I don't want to say if any technique is better than another. I think every technique has its place. Value painting can really help simplify things, especially if you don't need a lot of color. You'll notice people who do more dramatic scenes always use value painting and then color with just a few hues. I was aiming for that style here. But what if the scene is much more complicated, like a sci-fi bladerunner scene with tons of color, strange lighting, random values? I guess I'll have to try that later and see.
