Heh, and this is the last time we see Gabool looking... relatively sane...
Epic illustration, though!

Yup... Got to love Mariel!
Kind of a pity Gabool was too crazy to offer much threat by the time the heroes reached him...

It is so nice to see a villian from this series featured, and normally I do not say that but the way you presented him, pondering instead of raging for once is a unique scene to select. I love the surrounding background most though, the surmounting storm and how the rug is disturbed below him.

Awesome, I love Martin, Red Wall and all of the stories that came after. Wasn't the heroine Miriam or somthing like that? I remember her because of her tenacity, and her "Gull-Whacker" Gabool was quite the tyrant....... nice portrayal. Love the quote from the book... well done.

Mariel ! Thank you for the complement, I'd love to do some more ambitious images for some of the scenes from this book, it was a real good one!

Gorgeous work. I will say perhaps the cloak drops a little too straight - he'd look good also if it followed the curve of his haunches as well as his shoulders.. I love the draping on the steps, though, and the gorgeous sword perspective.

The amount of detail in the pencil work is amazing~ The hatching works great and gives it a sort of storybook illustration feel. Very moody, too.

Just, curious, but how big do you draw these pieces, it seems like you put an incredible amount of detail into a standard sheet of paper. ^^

Hey TeakPuck ^^, this image is just standard A4 . A few of the drawings in my gallery are A3 in an attempt to get more detail, but it never really proved worthwhile x.x! Thanks for the first fav too :-3!

No problem on the fav! I've been using 9 x 12, and I can never seem to get the accuracy and detail that you pull off though. Perhaps I need to change my game plan a bit.

Makes for great art work, all those little things. ^^ Guess I got a lot to practice!

Well if it helps, I use a 0.5 mechanical pencil. Whilst I love to use traditional pencils, mechanical just has that edge !

TeaPuck In reply to BubbleWolf [2010-09-21 16:21:15 +0000 UTC]

ahh I've been practicing with a 0.9, so I'm sure that makes a little difference. However, I love the textures and shades you can do with traditional, but I suppose the mechanicals top the rest for crosshatching. ^^ I'll have to try out my 0.5 a little more and see what I can squeeze into that paper! But yes, it's good to know, so thanks for the tip!
