We don't really have a summer in Australia. (We have the season I mean just not the holiday.) The year is split into 4 terms, with 3 small 2-week holidays and one 5-week one at the end/start of the year. So there's another 6 weeks until the next holiday and it will be 2 weeks long. Each term is 10 or 11 weeks long.

Nope, all Australian schools are like that, and we still get weekends so it's not too bad. Though with all the mid-year exams it's getting a bit tiring.
