Because I support purple magic! For those who either haven't heard or just don't play magic the hot-shots in charge were thinking about adding purple as a 6 color as part of the Planar Chaos set. They changed their mind though. Eyeballed all of it, except the I support part from =Valros 's stamps. He had the original idea for it and I decided to add on. Used layer styles for everything (gradient overlay, stroke, and shadow/blend) and [link] this tutorial just for the sizes and such. Free to use, standard rules and such. Logo my own design since one was never released, just used the interview they had for ideas.PURPLE FTW!

Their was a major problem with introducing a new color in magic so late in its years. For one imagine all the new rules that would have to be made, cards would have to be reprinted; you'd have to reproduce the entire industry all over again.
