Great designs! You could direct me to some source of information for me to better understand the structure of these common medieval houses? I just find pictures of them, but I cannot identify which the functions of each part of it.

I'm not the best at understanding the floor plans or deeper aspects of these, mostly because I design homes for TODAY. Medieval houses had very different layouts and construction methods. There's not a lot of good material or sources to use on this subject.

Yes, not very practical, very challenging to make a useful floor plan based on these, usually too small. But fun, cartoonish stuff...

did you use darker than normal paper to get the shadows and the highlights?

Yes. And I used a very fine brown ink pen over the pencil, then watercolor highlights. The page was cut up and re-glued after.
