Hello. I've recently finished bingewatching the original series of Postman Pat, and like James A Williams, I think Postman Pat and the mystery tour was a quite fitting finale. However, with a few rewritten elements, I think Postman Pat and The Greendale Rocket could work as the finale to the original show as I did sort of get finale vibes from it. So, here is rewritten stuff I would add to make it as the Postman Pat finale,

- have Pat take the children to the old station in the post bus. I liked how the post bus showed Pat that he can also do another job alongside post delivering (while still keeping the slice of life charm). I think it would be nice to see Pat taking the Children from the school to the old station as it would still keep the post bus (the better PAT 2) relevant in the special.

- explore more about Pat's past. It would of been nice if we saw stuff from Pat's past as we have had heard about stuff from when he was a lad and there could even be callbacks from previous series 1 to 2 episodes and specials to remember the good times Pat has had and the flashbacks show how he became a Postman.

- Add abit more scenes of the Baines family and them talking to the locals. Considering this would be the finale, there should be at least a couple of scenes structuring the Baines' family's characteristics and how they would interact with other characters. Still have scenes with Meera and Julian and the other children of Greendale, but have other scenes with Ajay and Nisha with characters like Pat, Sara, Ted, Miss Hubbard, Mrs Goggins, Sam Waldron, Alf, etc.

- have every character from series 1 to 2 appear. I think as this is the finale, we should have every character appear, even if it's a small cameo.

- At the end when the Greendale Station opens, have Pat go off and deliver parcels with a short montage of him delivering them with the Original Theme and end it off with Pat saying "what a lovely day Jess" in his van off to his next parcel delivery.

And that is it. I personally don't hate series 3 to 5 and I do quite like it, but I think the show had a good run with 2 seasons and 4 specials and have this special be the finale if its done like this. SDS would not happen, but I may do a similar take about it where its about Julian as a Postman and how he delivers post as an adult. But till then, hope you liked it and I might try and do episodes on my take on Fireman Sam Series 5.
