Description This is Luke, a character from the video game "Tales of the Abyss". Miss ~ryoneko commissioned him from me!

She asked for a 9 inch doll, but Luke is about 12. This is because:

a) I needed to re-work my basic doll body pattern to make 12 inch dolls anyway
b) I'm completely out of the eyes I use for 9 inch dolls. WHOOPS.
c) ~ryoneko runs Rockman-exe Online, one of my favorite websites. When Axess was first airing, my roommate at the time asked me, "Every time I look over at you, you're looking that same website! What is it?"

So I suppose this is a thank-you for her years of hard work. I love how impractical anime outfits are...

I really like the head shape that you have. I can never seem to get mine right. Do you mind sharing any tips?

Ooo... He's so cute!! I really want one... It's too bad my crocheting skills are nowhere near good enough to make anything without a pattern.

D'aaaw, now that is cute.

And I see you did the red lining in his coat flaps. How far up does the red go? I noticed in all the references of Luke that there's no red lining inside the collar, but I'm not sure how far up I should put the lining when I make my own Luke doll...

Haha, plushie abs. XD

Mmn, I think it only went halfway up? I think I stopped at his waist... I used this funny color change method... uhm, you start a row in back loops only, then sc in the back loop of your next stitch AND the skipped back loop from the row before... and keep doing this all the way up. Thus, you end up with a fabric with only wrong sides showing on both sides...

So you can make really nifty looking stripes with this but... to have something a solid color on each side... because you have to switch colors each row, the color you dropped/want is on the wrong side, and you've got to carry it through along the wrong-color row...

AAH. Well! Things got complicated so I only went halfway up! And also didn't notice the red in his collar. Never played that one, only Phantasia and Symphonia.

Wow, I'd never heard of that method before. Then again, I really don't know much beyond the basic stitches and how to increase and decrease. I keep telling myself to look into a stitch dictionary and see what's applicable to amigurumi, but I've never gotten around to it.

I just tried to do that a little. It's cool, but it would drive me crazy to have to switch colors every row. I'll probably just crochet the red lining separately and bind it to the white when I put in the gold edging. That's how I did Asch's tabard anyway. Besides, I tend to make my amigurumi in alternating rows anyway (am I the only one who does this? ), so having the jacket be the only thing with wrong side only would probably look weird.

Ah, sorry, the way I said that was probably confusing. You wouldn't have noticed the red in his collar because it's not there. I just assumed the entire jacket was lined in red, but when watching the anime, I just went, "Wait, the lining of the collar is white! What?" That's why I asked about where the red lining should end.

If you liked Symphonia, I'd definitely recommend playing Abyss. There's also a 26 episode anime that's very faithful to the original story, but considering that it's based on a 60+ hour game, they had to cut out a bit.

WAGH I'm SO GLAD somebody finally noticed that!! I was paranoid that it looked funny/you couldn't tell what it was and almost took it off so many times... But now I'm happy I didn't! Huzzah! Thank you!

Can I be honest and say it was the first thing I was looking for on him? XD

I'm super glad you didn't it off :3

I actually recall several skits within the game of the characters commenting on his belly (making fun of him)

He just wouldn't have been the same without it XD
