Solavellans actually have two versions to this. The other one features rainbows in the background, modern elves becoming immortal and nobody dying.

...and a shirtless Solas riding a unicorn   I would have liked that    Seriously though this must have a happy ending after all that emotional damage

I make fun of it, but actually when you play as an elf, who's family or friends suffered from racism or who's even witnessed actual genocide, this could make sense...

Nourak In reply to bunnynoldo [2016-02-09 14:07:27 +0000 UTC]

I play with an elf and it would not matter to me my character is elf or human or qunari, I would still destroy the entire world with Solas.

I would kinda agree, if it did´nt mean that all the people I have come to like and that all the elves who arent sleeping is gonna die, which is only a few thousand of what I have heard. So no, that is just dumb, to kill billions of his own species for a few thousands, I think not!

bunnynoldo In reply to GwDuncan [2016-02-07 15:53:59 +0000 UTC]

I think he doesn't really want to do it, that's why he told Inquisitor about the plan.  But I guess for everyone except  Lavellan and Cole that's crazy talk

GwDuncan In reply to bunnynoldo [2016-02-07 22:38:47 +0000 UTC]

Well, something tells me that even if Quizzy succeed in changing his mind(I really doubt that Bioware is gonna make another main character after that ending) it is gonna end with that Solas has to die or something(or someone is gonna die I guess)

bunnynoldo In reply to GwDuncan [2016-02-14 19:17:29 +0000 UTC]

I really hope you are right about Quizzy being the main character in DA4, because otherwise it would be a complete waste of great storytelling.. As for Solas dying, I think that will be an option, but there will also be an option for some sort of happy ending for him, because otherwise it would be just too damn depressing..

GwDuncan In reply to bunnynoldo [2016-02-14 23:01:31 +0000 UTC]

It will probably be let him go through with his plan for him to live, or stop his plan and he has to die.
And DA4 has to be with Quizzy, it would not make sense for her/him to leave both the worlds and his friends/nemesis fate in the hands of someone else that has no idea what they are dealing with

you made my day

---

but i don't think all solavellans are okay with distroying whole thedas. most solasmancers wish to save him from himself.
and solas, as a character, isn't a man who'd love a woman who is okay with destroying the world. he's depressed and full of regrets and all he really needs is being pardoned. but he's to proud to say sorry, and he feels to lonely and lost in thedas to just live in this world. he's angry, he's scared and he's terribly wounded inside and so he acts like a wounded wolf - lashing around whereever he can see something or someone moving towards him.

well, solas is one of these tragic souls you think you can save with true love, like "Beauty and the Beast".
which was possibly the draft bioware used to write solas' romance.

Thank you! Actually I also think that most of the players are not ok with destroying the world, but there's an option for elves to choose 'let me help you Solas' (which you could also try as attempt to infiltrate Solas' organisation I guess). Overall I agree with you that 'redeem Solas' option is there for a reson and that he is not truly 'evil'. It just seems funny (and sad...) that after Trespasser probably the only wo people in Thedas who still have faith in Solas are Lavellan and Cole

very sad. but also very realistic.
maybe in the next game players can bring solas to reason or show him another way.
do you think, bioware'll bring us to tevinter?

bunnynoldo In reply to Yce9Phire [2016-02-07 16:18:51 +0000 UTC]

I would really like to go to tevinter - I wonder what playing non-human would be like.. Certainly interesting. And Solas thread must have some sort of happy ending, otherwise it would be waaay too depressing. I think the redemption option is there for a reason

Never ever EVER romance with an apostate. They can only cause heartbreak and world destruction.

Kombayn [2016-02-07 08:38:28 +0000 UTC]

I have two player characters for Inquisition: a human male mage (all game plus all major DLCs) and a elven female rogue (recently arrived to Skyhold). When I played the rogue elf I hesitated a lot between all these possible romances. Now I know she won't romance Solas!
Because after Trespasser I watched videos like "All finishing moves of Dishonored" and imagined Inquisitor killing the egghead (well, as long as Inky has two hands), expected to see some pics like this, but nah, Solavellans all around. Weird people, I'd say. Making your character a love martyr of such scale...well, their game, their choice I guess.

And your pic just made my morning.

Thank you You know, I think Solas romance is just amazing, but my first reaction to Trespasser was pretty much like yours: "why the hell are there even 'thank yous' and romance options there, when he plainly said he plans to destroy the world and probably everybody in it (including you)? Are all those people deaf?". So I never actually undestood those reactions myself.
But then I listened to the nerdappropriate podcast with Patrick Weekes (the writer) and damn.. That gave me a whole new perspective, for the whole game. So now I think we will get even more suprises from Solas in DA4, and that the redemption option is there for a reason. The amount of plot twists and emotions that Patrick Weekes was able to put into that character is just amazing.
But I guess for now, for anyone in Thedas except for Cole and Lavellan, it must seem a bit crazy to put any faith in Solas.
As for my headcanon, in Trespasser my Inuquisitor would feel mad, angry and betrayed, but then she would start thinking that maybe there was more to it, and that perhaps that ancient trickster god lured her there and told her his plans for some other reason as well

I'm not even a Solasmancer and I feel ya.  First he steals Lavellan's heart, then he takes her heritage, then he takes her arm, and then he destroys the world.

It's what Anders did to the Chantry, but amplified to a global level.

This must be what they mean by Solavellan Hell.

This is cute and I love it.

Thank you! Yes, Bioware went a bit wild with the Solas romance, didn't they: all that drama, suspense, mystery, emotions, impact on the story... But that's what makes it so great. Personally I think we'll be able to redeem Solas, it's just that at this stage any faith in him must seem naive to a lot of people
