Description
So I decided to do another Draw This Again meme. I had a friend of mine pick one of my pieces, and he selected one of my golden oldies--Cooling Off, featuring the dwarf paladin Dalan Stonecliff. It's been awhile since I visited my homebrew world of Gaia, so I thought this would be a good chance to do so.

I fought and I fought with the lineart, trying to get it to merge with the flat colors. But I wanted to keep the individual color sections separate, so I could shadow them without bleeding over onto the other pieces. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't figure out how to make it work. I finally settled for merging the lines with the flats and then using multiple layers to shade each section, doing my best to keep things in their own spaces. The water was really challenging to get just right. I wanted to make it look like it was flowing naturally from the water skin. The texture on the hair and beard was, as always, my favorite part, although I'd like to find a better way to render body hair. It always ends up looking flat.

After a hard afternoon of fighter practice, Dalan takes a moment to wash off the sweat and grime. It's a chilly winter's day near his hometown of Loch Glenlannach, but like all dwarves, he thrives in the cold. Besides, there's a roaring fire, a hearty supper, and his loving husband awaiting him back at the clanhold, so he'll be plenty warm soon enough.
