Description If you're wondering why most of the fish aren't feeding, it's because most of the fish are dead.

Ahaha. This is spectacular. I love the fact that you can hardly tell what's being eaten by what. It's very artfully chaotic.

I haven't been as wowed as I am now by any piece of art for a long long while. I can't figure out what to criticize on this. It's really epic.
You managed to have a huge amount of little intricate details but that doesn't conflict or diminish the power of the composition or the contrast.
And i love how subtly the color and exposition graduates.
This is the kind of stuff I often dream to do. It combines amazing creature design with the sort of interpretative poetic elements that should be present in actual contemporary art.

Keep it up!

How long it took me was way too long, haha. From first opening the file to posting it here was about 3 months, but there were days (and weeks) when I didn't touch it.

Amazing! I can't help but wonder how much time did you spend on it?

buriedshovel In reply to ManuelDupong [2010-03-26 07:42:35 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm, I'm not sure exactly; I usually have a couple of drawings going on at the same time, plus there were a number of weeks where I didn't work on this at all.
However, rrom the time I first started working on the blank file, to the time I posted it here was about three months, though.

Unfortunely I never had that kind of patience. But you've inspired me to persevere.

Yeah, I'll admit that spending that much time on a drawing can be a real pain in the ass. I'd definitely recommend trying it sometime if you can, though. You've got talent, so you might find the results are worth it.

Those budget cuts sure took a cut out of the program, eh? Had to stack them high and cheap. "Eat the Sea".

The atmosphere in this...well, it's dark, like a metal engraving. Maybe the tank could be even deeper, to add to the creepiness, to the realization that the fish have been stacked there for a very, very long time.

buriedshovel In reply to kecen [2010-03-09 08:22:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it would probably look better if the tank was deeper; the problem is my computer's old and creaky and was barely able to handle an image this size, let alone something bigger. :/
