I've literally been working on these sprites for about 2 years, trying to make the sprite as accurate to the beta art of Green (Blue in Japan, also what I like to call her but for the sake of me being in America I'll call her Green for this) as possible. For those of you who don't know who this is, its Green. She was the planned female trainer for the Beta of Red and Green, but she never made it into the game. Though when FireRed and LeafGreen came around Game Freak went and revamped her design and shoved her in the games calling her Leaf, even though her real name is Green. Anyway I have to I think I did a pretty darn good job. I recently saw some new beta art of her and it was a nice shot of her face! I was really happy cause now I could try and base her hair off the game's depiction and not the one of the manga.So yea to the left are the Generation I overworlds, so the ones that would have been her as the heronie.
And to the right are the ones of her from Generation II her as the Champion.

Just wondering, how long does it take to make a big sprite for a Character?

It all depends on how much scratch work I have to do or if I use an amalgam ofย poses of other trainers, anywhere from 10/15 minutes to an hour.

If she got into the first games, she would've been called Green for sure. They just called her Leaf when the remakes came around since using her was "new".

It was like when Lyra was announced for HGSS, they thought her name would be "Soul". But it's sort of a rare nickname nowadays.

I thought her real name is Blue (at least that's what she's called in Japan in the beta ver. of the early games).
Green is just the mistranslated name. Leaf is just her default name in the USA fandom. Fuguri is her default name in the JPN fandom.
One thing for sure is that her name is sure as hell is not Fire or Water. XD
But, hey, I don't care what her name is. All I can say is she's my favorite female trainer. ^^

Actually, I don't think Game Freak ever gave Leaf the name, it was mostly a fandom thing. I've heard some people call her Fuguri, or something like that.

Great job. I'm not a pixel artist myself, but I think she turned out well. I like that she has the little insignia that Red had on his hat in the first games.

The in game character is Leaf, not Green/Blue. Green/Blue, although being the original character planned for Pokemon Green/Red/Blue is a separate character specific to the manga, the same way that Ruby and Brendan are similar, but different characters. I don't know why I feel compelled to say that, but the two are somewhat different. Also, in the manga, Green/Blue eventually wears Leaf's clothing, but that makes the two the same about as much as Crystal wearing Lyra's clothing makes them the same. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying one is better or more original, just pointing out that despite Green/Blue not being Leaf, Leaf is not Green/Blue. Nice sprites, in any case, glad to see someone showing Green/Blue some love. ^_^

See thats where we disagree, I'm ok with Lyra being seperate from Crys. I would have been more pissed if they gave her the brown hair and called her Crys. Cause y'know god forbid they just give her blue hair.
