Holly decided to take a walk out to the market one crisp autumn day. She loved going to the market, the smells of fresh food, the noises of Wyngrew talking...it was a comfort. As she carried her small bag of coins in her mouth, Holly jogged into the marketplace, hearing bits and pieces of conversation she wasn't apart of. It took a bit, but she came up to her and her sister Holly's favorite stand; the bakery stand. The baker who ran that stand was a sweet older lady, who enjoyed Holly and Jolly's visits. The siblings were a kind break from the annoying lot of adults who argued she was selling her food for far more than they were worth…

"Hello Mrs. Smith!" Jolly said, as she jumped up on one of the three seats available. The aroma of freshly baked goods was strong, and it almost made Jolly's mouth water. She couldn't wait to try what was made today!

"Oh, why hello Jolly! What can I do you for today?" Mrs. Smith smiled sweetly at the small wyngling.

"Two apple pastries, please!" Jolly returned the smile, sliding her small bag of coins across the counter.

"Why of course." Mrs. Smith said, and gently grabbed two apple pastries and placed them in a small bag. "Anything else, dearie?"

"Nope, that's about it." Jolly said, taking the bag in her mouth. She let out a very muffled "thank you" before getting off of the stool and rushing out of the marketplace.

Mrs. Smith gave a kind "goodbye" as the bartering customers started flooding her stand.

Jolly was jogging on the way home once again, humming a small tune on her way. That went smoother than it did a few days ago, when Jolly came during rush hour and the other adults were practically tossing her away from the stand. But, it worked out okay in the end! Jolly kept humming her happy tune until she heard something...not happy. She looked off of the grassy path to see a bunch of Wynglings throwing rocks at...something. Jolly couldn't tell what it was, until one of the Wynglings hit it dead on, and a loud yelp resounded from it.

That...was a Runeboo.

Jolly had only seen them and learned about them during the Nooks field trip to Kalypso's place, learning that they were gentle and magical creatures that should be treated with kindness and love.

This one was not.

Jolly stormed towards the Wynglings, starting to yell at them. She left the pastries on the path.

"HEY!!" Holly yelled, and finally got the attention of the other Wynglings, who looked annoyed by her very presence. "Why are you throwing rocks at this Runeboo? Kalypso said that we need to treat these animals with kindness!"

"Because it's fun. We need something for target practice." One of them growled, the other two snickering at the remark.

"Use that boulder over there!! Don't use a living creature!!" Jolly pleaded, blocking the Wynglings from throwing any more rocks.

"...I think we just found an even bigger target for practice, gang!" One of them laughed, and immediately threw a sharp rock at Jolly.

Jolly winced. That hit her right in the shoulder...that hurt way more than she thought it would.

That would be the least of her problems, as suddenly more and more rocks were thrown at her. While some did miss, the majority hit her on the head and chest, some being sharp enough to cut her skin open. But she didn't back down. She had to save this Runeboo from these horrible kids. She could endure it for far longer than it could. Maybe Holly will know what to do...
