Description The Bridge of Sighs (Italian: Ponte dei Sospiri) is a bridge in Venice, northern Italy. The enclosed bridge is made of white limestone and has windows with stone bars. It passes over the Rio di Palazzo and connects the New Prison to the interrogation rooms in the Doge's Palace. It was designed by Antoni Contino (whose uncle Antonio da Ponte had designed the Rialto Bridge), and built in 1602.

Nice light... Wonderful postcard from Venice (Veneza), couldn't help myself love the name and sound in Portuguese.

I spent 3 days trying to say it in Italian - amongst other words lol
And thank you - there's only one place to stand to take the pic (unless you are on a Gondola)

You have a good equilibrium on one? I don't think the water would be very clean for you to fall into it. Stay on land, is best!!

80 euros for 40 minutes before 8pm, then 100 euros.
I guess for the experience it's not massively expensive but when you consider 80 euros will get you Bed and Breakfast there....... you can laways split the cost with another couple or two as the gondola holds 6 people and the cost is per gondola not per couple.
We were only there for 3 days and I think next visit we'll go on one.

You wish... hehe, only if you want a line car... it's a Portuguese joke, something close in translation to (Cart sewing thread) we used to play with the wooden empty carts when they had no more thread (back when we're children) pushing them as little cars and marbles too!!

I think the canals are "purged" using big baffles or similar on the front of boats quite frequently. I remember seeing it being done somewhere.
There was only a couple of moments where I could smell the canals, the worst smell was the piles of trash in the streets early morning but they were picked up pretty sharpish.
was a lovely place to spend a few days. My legs are still aching! lol

I'm Sure Pollution Control Has Much Improved, Canals Were Covered With An Oil Slick Six Inches Thick From The Two Stroke Outboards Back Then...

It's funny cos most of the water taxis look like they are from the 60's in the design of them, definately not 2 stroke engines though., more like jets!
