In which Sailor John Calles unknowingly meets his own granddaughter Serena's almost selectively mute, but John's not a patient man with kids. Before he eventually slinks into a retirement home, he meets a young girl in his favourite vantage spot, and is initially angry until he hears about her reasons for being there. She feels the call of the cove and sea much the way he does. Unbeknownst to either of them, it's because of their blood relation.

In case you missed the memo before: John bore an unknown son when he was young and reckless, and the son grew up to be Joseph Farrall - more commonly called 'Captain Joe' Joe married Jill Mavondo and Serena Farrall was born - descendent of John's Calles ancestors.
