WHAT A BISHIE LOOK AT THOSE TEEEEEEF!

Just playing around with a patterning technique. Not entirely happy with how it worked out, but learned along the way, and am taking away a few bits that I agree with. Wanted some horror vaccui action going on. Maybe scanning some ink lines and colourizing them might work? Wouldn't be as 'glowy', but wouldn't be as thick and clumpy either. Any suggestions?

ALSO, do any of you know of any artists/art styles, old or contemporary, that use patterning in a fun sort of way? I want some inspiration Thanks!

Very cool! the black and green look great, that's why slytherin is the best. But seriously, this looks so rad, I really love the whole concept, and the finished pic looks really pretty, all that design really comes together to make it really striking

Wow. Maybe YOU are not entirely happy, but for me it turned out really pretty! Or maybe it's just my love for the character?
As for artists... the most obvious one is of course Klimt, but I would check out Leon Bakst as well, I think you may find him inspiring.

This is gorgeous... despite the fact that he is not! lol! Really, this is unusual and wonderfully patterned and totally garish and I love it! It looks as if he's wearing the sky from Van Gogh's "Starry Night"! (He's a good source for patterns.) Also, check Mehndi... not an artist, but a beautiful patterning technique.
