This is a beautiful render. It feels so real I can see myself standing there. It is a real treat for me because I worked on ships for almost 17 years (counting the Academy). I grew up with books about ships like this.
You have excellent dimensionality and perceived depth of field. I have also seen rainclouds just like that.

Great job buzz I love the sand and the sun rays in the background. Just wondering how did you get such a large render with Terragen 2? It always says that the maximum size for the technology preview is 800X600

The clouds are just incredible ! They seem to not be limited to just one layer but they branch out in all directions, I can actually imagine what they would look like from the sky-view.
The sand is top stuff too, especially with the disturbed areas that look like something has moved it.
