Description After the rain, me and my friends were walking around our estate and found this droplet and the nicely shaped twigs.

I hope you like it,

An appropriate sense of melancholy captured.

Yeah, I was going for a more "sad" or depressed feel. Thanks for the comment!

Wow! I love how this photo just moves you..there's so much emotion and story to be told in this photo, it's awesome!

I find it very interesting how the background is so soft and whanot, but the spikes are so sharp and to-the-point, if that makes any sense? The contrast is this photo is very nice.

I also like how the bokeh add to it in the background - they not only add interest, but they also make the viewer curious as to what was in the background. I love how you can see other blurred droplets in the distance, though they probably weren't that far away.

The focus is great in the way that it keeps just enough of the foreground in focus, while the background is blurred. The shallow depth of field was a lovely choice!

I do think the composition could be improved, though I do like how you've got everything set up right now with the bokeh in the background. I would just like to see a few different angles, as I find the black right in the middle a tad distracting.

Great work!

I really love the concept. The thorns seem to be very painfull but the other branches seem to be so soft because of the aperture. The sharpness might be a little bit more precise I think it's the border until it would look unsharp. Maybe you might have focused more the middle of the three thorns with a bigger aperture

But I like it anyway I hope you know, what I wanted to say, my English's not the best .__.

Awesome subject of the photo and nice bokeh.
But I would recommend you to increase aperture - I think it would be better with the first 5 spikes in focus. Maybe F/6 -F/8 but it has to be tried, I don't have very good estimation at this.
Rules say: if the subject is in the centre (or very close to it) of the image, it looks boring a little, but this one breaks it. I think, this composition is very nice.

yeah, you're right. The depth of field should have been greater, but it was a dark day and I was struggling for light. Should've used a flash really :/ Damn.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment though!
