Description I wanted to help display the Greek Underworld in a more positive light that often goes ignored and overlooked by the common media like Disney's Hercules, God of War, Clash of the Titans, Percy Jackson, Marvel and DC comics, etc...which tends to only show Hades as a despotic and terrifying king of the dead who wants to conquer the mortal world and rules a hellish nightmare pit of suffering. That couldn't be further from the truth of actual greek myth and it all started because the Underworld called Hades also shares a name with it's god, and the first Bible was written in Greece so they tended to use Hades the place to refer to hell and the god Hades became associated to Greek Christians to the Devil.

In ancient Greece Hades was not heavily worshiped outside of a small cult capacity because his domain is the dead so he's not likely to get involved with the affairs living unless it's an issue regarding death. In many myths he is often the dealer of punishments but only to people who committed horrible crimes during their lives such as:
-King Sisyphus who murdered his guests and then tried to cheat death
-King Tantalus who murdered his own son and tried to offer him as a meal to the gods
-Theseus and his bro Pirithous who thought it was a good idea to try to kidnap his wife Persephone.

Unless you committed a heinous crime in life the Underworld was not such a bad place to be, if you didn't commit any crimes and accomplish anything noteworthy in your lifetime you at least get to peacefully roam about the halls of the dead at worst it probably just gets boring and somber, but if you did managed to accomplish something amazing then you go right to the fields of Elysium an eternal lush paradise for the souls of heroes. Hades himself is not the warmest or most approachable of greek gods, he's often depicted as stern and dignified, very serious, stoic, and follows the letter of the law but few people are able to bring out his softer side like the demigod and Bard Orpheus who played him a song for Hades in order to request that he let him take his dead wife back to the world of the living with him. Hades was so moved by his song that even though the dead are not supposed to leave the underworld he decided to give the boy a chance and told him he could have her back if he exited the underworld without looking back...to bad paranoia got the better of him and he turned around anyway! He's also known to love his three headed dog Cerberus who in greek his name translates to Spot! This guy named his giant three headed hellhound SPOT! When Heracles was given the task to retrieve Cerberus, Hades said he'd allow it so long as Heracles didn't hurt his dog and that's basically the only interaction between Heracles and Hades, he never tired to ruin Heracles' life that was all the doing of Hera who was being vindictive to Heracles for being born.

While his younger brothers Zeus and Poseidon couldn't keep it in their pants ever Hades was happy to be in love with only one woman, his wife Persephone. Some versions of the myths claim that Hades kidnapped her and tricked her into eating the pomegranate but in Myconian ancient Greece that predated the more commonly known Hellenistic period of ancient greece there was originally no Hades in the Pantheon and instead Persephone was the Goddess of the dead and underworld, so earlier versions of the Hellenistic story have Persephone wander into the Underworld herself and decided she wanted to stay because she genuinely liked it down there and liked Hades however her mother Demeter threw a fit over it and then they had the custody battle over Persephone that established winter. Persephone herself is a sweetheart but don't ever get on her bad side because her wrath is worse than her husband and she's the one who's more likely to inflict cruel punishments if she feels it's justified. Despite the constant idiocies committed by his two younger brothers Hades was also known as the god of Brotherly Love, so even if Zeus is a bastard he probably wouldn't want to usurp him like they have him do in so many stories, plus Hades has a pretty good gig going as King of the Dead because eventually everyone dies. Over all Hades is a quiet dude who loves his brothers, his wife, his dog, does his job, and keeps his promises.

Also Residents of the Underworld to the right and left of the Underworld Power Couple are Charon the Ferryman who delivers the souls of the dead to the Underworld and Thanatos God of Death the Greek equivalent of the Grim Reaper. While Hades is the god who rules over the dead he is not the god of death, he is more closely associated with being the God with the power over the Earth and its riches; Metals, Gemstones and Fertility which I tried to show more of in his outfit. Thanatos's job was to collect the souls of people when their time has come and take them to Charon who would lead them to their destined afterlife.

And you need to make Thanatos hot. The entire point of Thanatos is to make the metaphor that death is beautiful.
