Description Taken July 3rd - LOOK AT THE SNOW - Do we get a summer this year or not?

(I'm not really complaining - I'm not a fan of hot weather - but it IS a little extreme this year.)

We can see Mount Baker from here in Canada too. On hot summer days i imagine it's the top of a cold ice cream!

It's actually Rainier - but I know the thought.

I was just staring at your beach picture trying to guess if that's Rich Passage or not!

Jeez...I've been trying to get a shot like this for a long time but keep missing it. How'd ya do it? From a moving car? Or was the bridge really clogged for rush hour so you were stopped?

Walked out my front door. Seriously. All the Mt. shots are from my front yard. (and the submarines, aircraft carriers, Ice breakers - and most of the ferries. Not bad for a rental from Craigslist, huh?

LUCKY. This is Lake Washington, isn't it? Or is this a similar view over a different body of water?

Nope - it's Puget Sound. Shot from Bainbridge Island. That little bit of land on the right in the foreground is Blake Island.

OOh. This looks basically IDENTICAL to the view from the 520 bridge over Lake Washington.

Probably not more than a few degrees rotation difference on the Mt. - but no 90 bridge or any of the other details from 520...

It's the same location (give or take 40 feet as all the Rainier shots I've done.

From 520 it's actually kinda hard to get the 90 bridge in at this rough angle. (Don't ask me why, but it is.) And if you're almost at the Seattle end, there's little offshoot docks from the land just like in your pic

I love seeing the lovely mountains and the water every day. This is a neat layered shot, I like the silhouetted trees on the water.

My favorite mountain, appearing to hover as usual. Years ago (many) I was there and saw a couple of rather impressive young ladies skiing in bikini tops. They must have walked up a ways to ski down. This was in July so the temp wasn't too cold.

Ugh. I live in Western Washington also (by the size of the mountain we may live fairly close) and I know what you mean. Seriously, Last year we had extremes and this year the climate is just wacky.

Beautiful picture though, the colors work really well together. Sunset without the sun. I love it

Yep- I'm just over on Bainbridge. Dontcha just love the weather tonight for fireworks?
Good for fire-prevention, bad for seeing fireworks!

Yea! we do live close. I'm (around) gig harbor

Yea- the only reason we can do fireworks at my house is because it's so damp. Otherwise it would be a danger, because of the trees.

Catch-22: rain is good for fire prevention - but makes it less fun to shoot them off!
