Description     I was probably around 3 to 5 years old when I first got exposed to video games. Over the time since then uo until now I've played my fair share videos games both popular, and more obscure. My first console was a Nintendo 64... well it was kind of my sister's since she's probably had it longer than I have been alive, and when she moved out she took the console woth her, along with the many other games I had for it. Other consoles and devices I've had for gaming were a Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance SP, 3 different Nintendo DS, A Nintendo Wii, XBOX 360, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and my current gaming PC. (Yes the computer in my art portrays a Mac, I am just used to drawing that when it comes to drawing computers). I don't remember every single game I've had, nor do I really want to talk about every single one since there are a lot. So I'll only be reminiscing ones that I played alot/liked a lot, or ones I still play now.

The first game I was exposed to, was Mario Kart 64. At that time it was only my sister who played it because I was too yound to comprehend what it even was. I don't know how I remember this, but I think she was playing as Yoshi. Up until my mom decided I was old enough to know how to play it and everything, I didn't know what it was called so I thought the game was just called "Mushrooms" because that's all I really knew about it at the time. So yeah you'd have 4 or 5 year old me going around wanting to play "Mushrooms!" and my mom would be like "No mushrooms". Unless it was a special occasion like a family gathering and my cousins would be wanting to play it, then I was allowed to play it. I think it was around when I was 6 I was actually allowed to play it and understand what I was doing. And when my mom finally let me have the N64 to myself and set it up to our downstairs livingroom TV, I was very addicted to it. I'd play as Peach most of the time because the yellow and white colous of her hair, outfit, and car were just very pleasing to look at. Eventually I did start playing as Yoshi, Toad, DK and pretty much all the other characters. I really miss playing multiplayer battle maps with my cousins, especially cause they'd absolutely hate how I'd aimlessly release green shells all over maps that didn't have drops, and unlike newer Mario Kart games Mario Kart 64 green shells never randomly despawn. They'd just keep going throughout the map until they hit someone, another green item, or fell off the map. Which is exactly why I'd love releasing so many at a time, and make the game harder for everyone because not only would we have to watch out for each other, we'd have to watch out for my rogue green shells. 100/10 would love to play it again. Also for some reason Bowser's Castle lowkey freaked me out. I don't know if it was the music, or because I thought the Thwomps were creepy, especially when they laughed (but even more especially that one that was in a jail cell, that would laugh when you approached it). Sticking to the N64 I'd also get pther racing games, like a Star Wars racing game, some car racing game and a few Mario Partys. But no other game came close to being played as much as Mario Kart, including the intense obsession....... Well except Donkey Kong 64. There was really no words to describe now much I loved that game. My love for it goes past Mario Kart 64 and I still do love it. If it came to the Switch like Super Mario 64 I would probably get hooked on it again. I don't know why I liked/love it so much. Maybe part of it was because I got the game around the same time I saw the Peter Jackson King Kong movie, which I also got really into. Maybe also because it was also my first 3D open world type game with different themed levels and the ability to unlock new characters with each of their own unique abilities and weapons, of maybe it was because that sound track was really great (especially the boss themes).  I don't think my sister had any other games on the 64 other than Mario Kart. All the other games that we had for it were all games I got after I started playing it. I'll also add that I had always felt very unnerved and creeped out by much of the levela in the game but I never knew why until sometime in 2020-2021 when I learned about liminal spaces. The soundtrack and looks of many of these levels were very liminal, especially once all the enemies in one area were cleared out.

While Mario Kart 64 was the first game I was exposed to it wasn't actually the first I played, at least not on my own. The first games I ever played on my own were Humongous Entertainment games, like Freddy Fish and Pajama Sam, as well as those games you'd get in cereal boxes. One of those ones being a 102 Dalmations game where you played as either a white puppy with no spots, or a regular looking dalmation, and you had to save a bunch of other puppies from crates, as well as destroy aggressive sentient toys that Cruella De Vil created. Like DK64 it had themed levels based on locations around London, like Picadilly Square, Royal Museum, and even climbing up Big Ben itself to get to the first Cruella battle, where she piloted a helicopter and I had to launch fruit at her to beat her. My favourite level in that game was either the Carnival level or the Toy Store level. I really hated the museum level because of some really weird kid logic. Since  I was not old enough to understand how the game worked, my toddler brain concluded that the game worked like the real world, and that because there was a dognapper in the museum I had to be really quiet the whole time, and every time there was a loud noise I'd get anxiety because I thought "Oh no, I barked..l the dognapper is going to find me.... oh no that toy exploded loudly he's going to find me for sure!" Obviously that's not how the game worked, you only encounter the dognapper at the end of the level and trap him in an Egyption sarcophagus. Oh yeah in the Egyptian area of the museum, I was afraid I'd have to face a mummy as well so there was that extra anxiety on top of the anxiety of being caught by the dognapper. I also had a game based on the Disney movie Dinosaur which was pretty cool too. It was mostly just a bunch of random minigames and activities.

For handheld devices from Gameboy to 3DS I played mostly Super Mario, Kirby and Pokemon. When it comes to my handheld games I've only ever managed to finish the Kirby games. I got really bored of the Mario ones really fast and I got too lazy to grind in Pokemon games. My love for Pokemon was mostly in the anime more than the games, but there is one Pokemon game I absolutely love and it's Emerald. That was my first handheld game that I could multiplayer play with others with and that pretty much sums up my 3rd - 4th grade life. Kirby games however I've been able to not get bored with and actually play through the entirety. I've heard some complaints about Kirby for being too simple, and being mostly the same game each time a new one comes around, (minus some new copy abilities) and I think that's okay. I like that most games are similar to the way Kirby was when it started. Newer Kirby games can bring me back to some of the older ones Inused to play and I love it. Currently on the Switch, the games I play most are Mario Kart, Smash Ultimate and Saints Row 4. I got Splatoon 2 a year ago and I have been meaning to play it, but I have just been forgetting because I've been coming back to the same few games over again. I do plan to get the upcoming Kirby game as well. Lets give a big F to the unsaved princesses, and pokemon trainers that never advanced, because of me. For the Nintendo DS, can we talk about the R4 card? Yeah, those were awesome. If you don't know what that is, it was a specific cartridge that one could download and play multiple games on. I rarely have many DS cartidges because everything I had was on the R4 card.

I really should not get anymore XBOX or PS consoles because I rarely play those games. The game I only ever really played on the XBOX and finished through was GTA V, and I got that for the PS4 as well but I have gotten less than halfway through it before I got it for my computer. An older Playstation game I enjoyed was Crash Bandicoot at my cousin's house. Other than that I've never played much on XBOX or PS. I kind of regret wanting the PS4, because I only wanted it when a few games I wanted were too outdated to play on the XBOX 360. I did have a Wii that I played significantly more than the other two systems. For the Wii, I mostly played Mario Kart, Cooking Mama, and Super Mario Galaxy.

I've also had my fair shair of run ins with mobile games. Classics like Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, and Temple Run. And because Talking Ben is trending as a meme because of IShowSpeed, I kinda want to put it on my phone as well, but if I do I probably would just forget about it the second it's installed. There is this one Simpsons mobile game I had back in 2010-2011 where you played as Homer, and you'd have to fight and beat up characters like Krusty, Ranier Wolfcastle, Dr. Hibbert and eventually Mr Burns. I don't remember why Homer was angry at them, I just remember the game being really entertaining for 13 year old me. Currently, the only game on mobile I have been playing a lot is Genshin Impact. I've been playing it since just after it came out and I'm very surprised it's lasted this long on my phone, despite all the updates and size increases to the game. Soon I will have to delete of off my phone and start playing it on my desktop computer instead due to how big it's gotten. I only really got into Genshin Impact because a friend of mine convinced me and a mutual friend to start playing it, whole he himself did not, and has never played it. I used to play Fate Grand Order as well, but I since deleted that to make more room for Genshin, along with Touhou LostWord. I also got into Fortnite around 2018-2019 but have lost interest in it.

Lastly we come to PC gaming. Specifically online games. The only game I really ever play at all is Team Fortress 2. I love it. I may have started getting into it a bit too late (2017-2018). I regret not getting into it sooner, but I'm glad I got into it a few good years before the current bot crisis that's going on right now. As a TF2 player I do enjoy all the memes, SFMs and 15.ai videos I find on the internet. I find TF2's community to be one that's very unique and unlike any other gaming community, or fandom in general. I love that memes and humour within the community keeps on evolving, and that's probably what makes TF2 my current favourite game above all others right now. Tf2 maybe the only game I play on my PC now but I have also played Overwatch and a little bit of League of Legends as well. Both games I got tired with pretty quickly, however I am thinking of trying to get into Overwatch again.

I did also have a PSP, but like the PS4 and XBOX, I mever played it that much aside from God of War. There are several games that I do enjoy, but don't play despite hanginf around their communities. These games include most of the horror genre, especially indie horror games. These include FNAF, Poppy Playtime, Resident Evil, Outlast, and Bendy. I don't have much time to get into these games by playing them myself, so instead I opt to watch them on youtube. I mostly am interested in them in their lore more than their gameplay. Also they are more enjoyable when watching people like Markiplier play them. Other games I watch played on Youtube rather than play myself include Minecraft and Cuphead and these days a bit of Fortnite.

A fun fact, recently for a group project in an English class about linguistics, I was part of a group which did a project presentation on gamer slang and language. While most of our project covered League of Legends related stuff, I did my part on Team Fortress 2. Yes when it came my time to speak, I gave a lecture on TF2, the classes, and words like Trolldier, Phloggers, F2P/P2P, and Uber. We did pretty well gradewise, on that assignment that most likely left the class extremely confused about  what we were even going on about, and probably made them feel secondhand embarassment. And it was all totally worth it!

Surprsingly I've never really played any Sonic, or Legend of Zelda. I feel like those are games I probably should like, but never could get into. Also there is a genre of PC games played, that I didn't know where to categorize. They influded Jazz Jackrabbit, and a game about a wizard dude that shoots lightning bolds from his finger called Hocus Pocus. I've revently rediscovered Hocus Pocus on an emulator.
