Description Another unsung hero,  Friedrich "Fritz" Kempf! He was a member of Jasta Boelcke and multiple other squadrons. Little is known about the man who ironically wrote on his Fokker Dr.1 the words "KEMPF. Kennscht Mi Noch?" or "KEMPF. Do you remember me?" He only had four victories, but his insignia tells quite a lot about his larger than life personality. Kempf became a ghostly figure among many famous pictures of Werner Voss and other aces. He always seemed to be "floating around" when the camera was out, but he never received any of the "glory" of the other WW1 pilots. During his time as fighter pilot, he became acquaintances with another unknown man named Hermann Frommherz, a remarkable hero himself. Fritz was an infantryman at the start of the Great War and transferred to flight school. He served Germany with honor and lived through both world wars. He died in his 60's. Although some may look at his measly four victories and view him as unimportant, to the family of Kempf, his service and "story" deserves to be told. Due to his obscurity, it was hard to identify his hair and eye color but I tried my best to match him.
The information used here came from this source--> www.vintageaviation.net/kempf1…

which included pictures of Fritz that are direct property of the Kempf family. I encourage you to read this and to "remember him."

Reminds me of Mr Voss's airplane for some reason, I think it's because of the colours
Well anyways good work!

Thank you very much! The coloration is a bit similar, though more blue in Kempf's. In my opinion this paint scheme is much more creative than Werner Voss' hehehe.

Haha it looks like a mix of Voss and Udet, since Udet also wrote in the airplane

Wow... it's amazing how many people get involved in such terrible conflicts and even stranger how so much attention can be gobbled up by other individuals... 'fame' is an odd thing indeed.

Np of course!! I can imagine the plane being hard to draw especially because it on a different angle (I feel your pain in making planes)

By all accounts, Kempf was a friendly, outgoing party boy. Good to be remembered.
