“Pity you’ll never know, then!!” One Krabby shouted as it grasped the chance to jump onto Blitzle’s back and harshly pinch his neck!

“AAH!” the pain was quite unbearable to him, “Sparks, get it off!!”

“O-okay, I’ll try!” the Shinx turned to him and tried to aim….but nothing was coming out of his yellow wristbands. He looked down at them, “Uh oh, Blitzle, I can’t-!”

“AAGH!!” the Shinx then got caught on his hind paws by another Krabby’s grasp!

“Ow! Sparks, no!!” Blitzle tried so hard to help and shake off the Krabby from his back, as he stomped a hoof on another one in front of him, though it did little to fend off the tens of more Krabbys crawling closer around them.

Two of them had the Shinx by the hind paws and its big ears, stretching him out like a torture device, while a third Krabby crawled very close, “You mess with the wrong Krabby clan, you waste of fur. But I’ll be nice - How about I only snip off your tail? I bags the lucky star on the end of it!”

“No, no get off!! Please!! BLITZLLLE!!” The helpless Shinx cried out in dismay, before hiding his eyes with his free paws…

“Sparks, I’m- agh! I’m comin-aah!!” The zebra tried so hard to aim his mane at the cub’s oppressors, but the one on his back kept putting him off aim….until a flamethrower knocked it off and made it let go of his neck!

“…Charrrrrr!!” An angry Charmy arrived at the scene.

And right afterwards, Sapphire ran to the rescue, using a quick attack to whizz into the three Krabbys taunting the Shinx, knocking them away and out!

“Aah! They’ve got some stupid friends! Retreat to the boss!” One crab ordered, “What?! But that one’s a tiny fireball!” Another shouted, “Nu-uh - you saw how its simple flame attack took out Konrad, over there! Now come on!!”

The remaining healthy Krabbys scurried into the water, leaving the four other Pokemon alone.

It got quiet for a moment and the Shinx uncovered his eyes, “…A-…a-are they gone…?”

“Hey, are you alright?” Sapphire asked him, “We saw you two struggling and we wanted to help.”

“Uh….oh, I’m….I think we’re fine, miss. Thanks for that…” he replied in a shy manner.

“Yeah, thanks…” After seeing that he was okay, Blitzle turned to the Charmander as the zebra had not moved from the spot - He looked at the lizard, as if….he knew him.

“Char…?” Charmy tilted his head at him, curious.

“You….hey, are you THAT Charmander?” He asked.

“…Chaar!!”

“Gasp, Charmander! You made it!!” He galloped closer to Charmy and he rubbed their muzzles together, “You actually made it!! It’s so great to see you here, buddy!”

“Cha-hahaha!!” He held onto his nose in response, as Blitzle tried feeling his arm with a hoof.

“Wait, what?” Sapphire turned to them both after helping the Shinx back on his feet, “You know each other?”

Blitzle brought his head back up and faced her, “Yeah! I know his big teeth from anywhere! This is the same Charmander I occasionally found while I played at the fields, way over there on that island.” He pointed at the faraway land that Charmy and Sapphire had just came from, “He’s so fun to hang out with! …Despite burning a bit of my mane, that one time.”

Charmy embarrassingly shrugged, “…Cha-hah.”

“And hey, aren’t you a water Pokemon? You must’ve brought him here!” He asked the Vaporeon.

“Yeah, I did….and it took longer than I thought…” Sapphire shrugged, showing that she was a little exhausted, “…Just as well we met a Lapras and got a ride, halfway here. Otherwise, I would’ve sunk and let Charmy-…Well, you know.”

“‘Charmy’?” Blitzle turned back to the lizard, “Hah, that’s a cute name you gave him! I wish I had thought of that while giving him a fun ride, every time I found him!”

“Well….at least you named me Sparks.” The shy Shinx pointed out.

“Yeah. Oh hey, Charmy! I met this little Shinx, a few days ago! I wanted to form an exploration team and Sparks here was more than happy be my partner! Isn’t that right, buddy?” He winked at Sparks with enthusiasm.

“Haha, yeah….sure!” he responded, itching his whiskers with a paw.

“And water girl? You can just call me Blitzle.”

“Hehe, the pleasure’s all mine. Sapphire the Vaporeon!” She revealed, “Say….what do you mean by ‘exploration team’?”

There was one other character next to the Zebstrika in Blitzle’s speech-bubble, but I decided to get rid of them, for story-related reasons. Oh, but that Zebstrika will occur in this season of Firedrop, as well.
