Hey GJ on the DD i was looking at your work yesterday and I must agree I like your work a lot, especially sticking to the idea of a series really well. I also love the glaze results you got with the volcanic glazes, ive been trying to get them to work for me, but you got excellent results. Keep up the good work!

As for volcanic glazes.... I mix silicon carbide (fine grade) into any old
(stoneware) glaze and see what happens....or paint it on as a solution to bisque fired clay just before glazing for a more random effect. Although only meant to work a stoneware temperatures...I did get bubbling on a raku piece I made....?

Thanks...yes, I'd never really noticed before, but someone else mentioned that! The other side is bluer, this side has more iron...which I guess is what makes it look like metal! I certainly couldn't make it in metal... anything super heated or with whirring blades scares the shit out of me as I'm so clumsy...I once managed to stick a wooden tool into my hand!

I press mold and add detail after or just make it from hand. If you want specifics just leave a comment under which ever one you are wondering about and I will be happy to answer

Thanks! To be honest the tilting was originally a device to take your eye away from the fact that it isn't completely spherical...but it seems to work as a design feature!

The dd's got a bit confusing after the set-up of the site changed; took me a while to find them too. There's a search bar at the top of the page (it says 'search art') - if you type in 'special:dd' you can see the day's features.

You can find them by going to the dA mainpage and scrolling down, they are fourth row down and there is a link there to view all of them
