I honestly thought nobody would think of that Shadow when I titled this. I should have known you would!
It's referencing her recent story arc in Detective Comics, and the comic that truly made me love Cassandra Cain.

"The weed of crime bears bitter fruit. Crime does not pay!" Now that's a superhero tag line. It's also one that Detective Comics itself has honored many times in the past. A lot of fans get caught up in the revolving-door stories with the Rogue's Gallery, and forget the many Batman stories where the Caped Crusader went after a lot of mundane criminals who were busy ruining their own lives or someone else's lives, and usually regretting it by the last page.
I don't know all of the members of the extended Bat-family as well as I should. That definitely goes for Cassandra Cain in her roles too. But she seems like another great heroic Shadow lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce on criminal ne'er do wells. And she seems more driven than edgy, which is welcome anymore.

Cass is one of the many characters I love who had messed up childhoods and are trying to rise above it and find value in themselves. She's actually a LOT like X-23, in that she was a weapon and is one of the best fighters on the planet, but Cass also has trouble speaking. A lot of her story is moving past her social issues, and how the Bat family helps her to do so.
