CLANK
A metal sound brought you back. You opened your eyes wide and closed them slowly. Your heart beat faster and louder than ever. What made it beat like that? Someone surprised you? No, that’s not it..., you thought. You looked around you. You were in a room, an office to be exact. You knew this room. You had been called here several times. It was your boss’ office.
You didn’t remember when and why you were there. You could not remember what happened in a few minutes earlier. You tried to recall but you could not. You stepped forward little by little and your feet bumped to something big. You almost fell but you regained your balance. You looked down to see what prevented your feet to go on. You screamed at the second you saw it. A body covered with blood and its blood was still fresh and flowing through the stab on its chest. Come to think of it, something reeked of iron and now you knew where it came from.
You knelt beside the lifeless body and you noticed that it or he was your boss, but who did this? You reached out your hand to touched his body and that was when you realized that your hands were tainted with blood. It felt like your heart jumped when you saw them and you wanted to scream but no voice came out from your mouth. You looked at your hands then to your boss, to his chest. You looked surround you and found a bloody big scissors. You recalled everything now.
Today, you were forced to work until late by your boss. Your boss was the one who took you from the street two months ago and he, in the beginning, was very kind. He even lent you a room in his house and a job in his company. After you came to his company, however, everything’s changed. A while ago he called, wait... he dragged you to his room, you knew what he wanted to. You were just in that company for a month and your boss would want to sexually harass you. Of course you refused and what you got was an abusive type of boss. That happened again and today, your mind went dark and you ended killing him.
You were terrified now. It’s as if someone choked you. You could not breath normally. You stood and stepped backward slowly, getting away from your boss’ corpse. When your back hit the wall, you quickly reached the knob of the door, slammed it open and ran from the building. You went to the back door and ran in a small alley behind buildings. That way, you were sure that no one would see you in that state.
You ran and ran… You didn’t want to be caught. You didn’t want to be jailed. You wanted to be free. Free from your boss, free from the police, free from everything….
As you ran, the sky seemed to help you another way. The rain poured down from the sky. The heavy rain made you soaked, but it rinsed your body and your hands from blood. The alley was wet and the rain made you hard to see what was in front of you. You just ran and didn’t know that a pile of trashes hindered your way and you tripped over them. You used your arms to shield your face. You fell pretty hard and because of the wet condition, you slide a few centimeters.
It hurt. Your body felt hurt from the falling. You can feel your arms and legs were wounded but you couldn’t do anything. Even now, you began to feel tired from running. Your feet ached. Your head also ached and you felt dizzy. You began to lose your consciousness and before it completely devoured you, you heard someone speak loudly.
~ Someone else’s POV ~
“Oh, it’s time to close the shop~” I said as I went to the door and changed the sign. As soon as I changed it, the sky grumbled with thunder and heavy rain poured. “Oh, I hope Luciano gets home safe.” Then I went to pick my trashes for today and went to my back door. It’d be for a sec, I wouldn’t need an umbrella, I thought.
I opened the door and strong wind blew, “Gotta get this done fast.”
I ran a bit to the left of my shop and threw the trashes there. I was getting soaked so I wanted to get home real quick. When I was about to run, I smelled something… Blood and it was nearby. I turned my body and looked behind a pile of trash.
“Mio dio!!”
There was a girl, lying on the ground. I approached her and shook her a bit. She didn’t respond. The iron blood smell was from her, but I didn’t believe it. Anyway, I had to bring her to my house~
~ Normal POV ~
You opened your eyes slightly. The sunlight wasn’t that bright so you continued to slowly open your eyes. You looked at the ceiling; you weren’t familiar with it. Where am I? You scanned the room you were in. It was painted brown and yellow. The bed you were in was green and the rest were blue and green stripes. One thing also caught your attention… there were three closets in that room. You tried to get up but failed miserably as your arms were injured. Your back ached and even your legs too.
Suddenly, the door creaked open. You set your eyes to see the person who brought you here. A man was standing there with a smile plastered on his face. He was wearing a red T-shirt, a white jacket and a red scarf along with matching sunglasses. His hair was blonde and he had a curl hanging to the right of his hair; and his eyes were red. What a combination of color he had. He brought a first aid kit.
“You’re finally awake!” he said with cheery voice.
He approached you and put the first aid kit beside you and went to the bathroom. He filled a bowl with water and took a piece of cloth and went back to you. He took a chair and sat beside of the bed and he began to treat your wounds. First, he dipped the cloth to the water, squeezed it then cleaned your wounds. You winced and moved your hand away from him. Your arms had more scars than you expected.
He was a bit shocked when you did that and said, “Oh, sorry, bella. I’ll be careful...” he strecthed his hand. You looked at him. His eyes softened and you slowly took his hand and nodded. He smiled and said, “It’ll hurt a bit, I’ll try to be careful.”
“It’s alright…” you whispered.
You didn’t know if he heard you or not but you didn’t care. He continued to treat your arms and legs. You winced a bit when the cloth came in contact with your wounded skin, but it was not that hurt again. He bandaged your wounds and then he looked at you. You felt him staring and turned your face. You locked eyes with him. As soon as you did, you felt your face hot, but you kept your cool, “Yes?”
“Do you remember what happen?” he asked.
“Not really…”
“Well, in short you fainted at the back of my shop and I brought you here. Have somewhere to live?” he continued.
Your mind immediately struck with what you did last night. Your face paled. You shook your head as an answer. He clasped his hand and said, “Oh, then you should live here, dear!”
You looked at him. You didn’t believe it. Someone who had just found you fainted on the ground offered you a home to live. It was the same as your previous experience. Your former boss also took you from the street, he had a company then he offered you to live with him. You wanted to say no for you were traumatized, but you didn’t have anywhere to go. You could not go back to the company for sure. So you planned to live here. For a while.
“Can I?” you asked.
“Of course!” he smiled.
When he wanted to speak again, your stomach growled loudly. You covered your stomach with your arms as if to reduce the sound. You looked down, blushing. How embarrassing, you thought. “Oh, are you hungry? Let’s go down, I’ll cook you something.”
He stood, then he uncovered the blanket from you and picked you up bridal style. You were surprised and you circled your hands around his neck, in case he was just joking. “Your feet hurt; I think this is the best way, bella.”
You blushed, but you didn’t say anything. He brought you outside his room and put you on a chair. Then he went to the kitchen and cooked something. You waited and when he finished he put the breakfast on the table for both of you and started to eat. You moved your arms carefully as to not hurting them again. You ate slowly but you were able to do it.
That man finished his food first and now he was staring at you. You glanced at him and you knew he was staring at you. That’s why you kept your gaze to the food.
“By the way, I haven’t known your name. My name is Flavio. Flavio Vargas. Yours?” he asked.
You swallowed the food in your mouth and replied, “(name) (last name).”
“Aww~ Your name sounds cute~”
You almost choked your food when you heard that. Anyway, you finished your food and he picked your plate and his and began cleaning up. After cleaning, he looked to the clock, “Oh my, I have to open the shop in half an hour.”
Then he looked at you, “(name), do you want to accompany me in my shop? It’s just downstairs.”
You thought for a while. You didn’t know what kind of shop he had but if you accompanied him, you would definitely meet people and worse your co-worker or someone who knew you. You really didn’t want that. You shook your head, saying, “No, thank you. I prefer to stay here.”
“If that’s what you want then, okay!” He said, “Do you want to stay in bed or watch TV, dear?” he asked you. You were kind of confused when he asked, but in seconds you understood what he meant, “Oh, no. I’ll try to walk by myself, thank you.”
“But your feet hurt...”
“It’s okay, Flavio. I’m fine. I can eat earlier so I’ll be able to walk on my own,” you assured him.
“Oh.. okay,” he grabbed some keys and went to the stairs. Before he descended he stopped and told you, “If you want to change, just choose one from the closets in my room. Just don’t push yourself!” with cheery tone. You just nodded. He then went downstairs.
You sighed when he was out of sight. Flavio was really nice towards you. It was awkward. You just met him and now he was kind and nice. It really repeated what you had experienced. You wanted to believe that his kindness was not fake, but you still had doubt in your heart. You looked at your clothes, it was rather dirty. And one think; your hands still stunk of blood. It’s not strong but if you held them near your nose, it’s clear. You decided to go to his room, changed, and washed the stink from your hand.
~ time skip ~
“(name), where are you?” Flavio asked aloud. It was night time again and he had closed his shop. He then turned to look for you in the kitchen. Yes, he found you there, staring blankly. “(name),” he called again. “O-oh, you’re back, Flavio. Sorry, I’m day dreaming.” You quickly replied.
“It’s fine. Now aren’t you hungry?”
“Yes.”
He cooked then you ate together. The rest of the night passed peacefully.
~ time skip again ~
It had been five days since you lived in Flavio’s house. Your wounds were completely healed and you could move everywhere around his house but you prevented yourself to go down, to his shop. You didn’t want to show yourself just yet. Every night, every day, you were worried that someone had known about your boss’s condition and asked the police to look for you.
In these five days, Flavio was really nice. He was blunt but in a good way. He always smiled and you never found a person smiled that much. Whenever he smiled, you felt something strange in you, but you didn’t really think about it. Now, what you had to think was how to get out from his house. You had planned to go from his house ever since. That time, you were afraid that he gave you fake kindness. As time passed, now you were afraid that he got involved with your case. You got to go from his place. The sooner the better and you decided tonight, you would run away from this house.
Night came. It was about time Flavio closed his shop and went upstairs to meet you. You would run in the middle of the night, so no one would see you and Flavio would not know that you went. You waited for Flavio to meet you. A few minutes passed and you could hear something you dread; Sounds of police car nearby. You looked outside the window, oh no, the police visited each places to confirm your whereabouts. You began to tremble. What if they came to this shop and asked Flavio.
“Oh, is there something wrong, sir?”
You could hear Flavio’s voice from downstairs. The police officers had come to get you.
“Excuse me, sir,” you heard the police said, “Do you know this woman? Her name is (name) (last name).”
There was a pause before Flavio answered, “Oh, yes I know her. She’s upstairs. What about her?”
Oh God, now you could not run anymore. Flavio was blunt, you knew it. You wanted to scold him but he didn’t know your current situation. “She murdered (boss name) a few days ago and we have to arrest her.” With that, you could hear the police officers ran upstairs, ignoring Flavio’s voice. You froze. You didn’t move a bit. Maybe if I surrender, Flavio will get away, you thought.
The officers arrived and quickly arrested you. Your hands were cuffed behind you. You didn’t struggle, you wanted to end this quick. Before you were brought to the stairs, Flavio was there and stopped them, “Wait!”
You looked at him, embarrassed. You were a murderer and he was a normal shop owner. If he got involved, it’s your fault.
“Sir, we’re going to bring (name) to the pol—“ before the talk finished, you heard the officer groaned in pain and fell back. Your eyes widened. You looked over your shoulder to see the officer. You were shocked when you see him; he was stabbed right on the neck with a piece of metal you assumed to be from scissors. You looked back at him again, he was holding pair of metals, the same with what he had thrown.
He smiled, “Non è educato ignorare qualcuno...” You shivered when you heard his voice. It was scary.
The last officer beside you drew his gun but before he could do that, the metal pierced through his heart, resulting his dead. “nessuno ferisce la mia amica... nessuno ferisce il mio amore…”
Your legs were shaking as he approached you. He turned you around and unlocked your handcuffs, turned you again and hugged you. “F-Flavio, I-“
“Shh… your voice’s too loud. They’ll get you again and I don’t want that.”
“But I’m—“
“You are mine, bella signora~ I won’t let someone take you from me~”
He released the hug and cupped your cheeks with his hands, “You’re a beauty, dear (name). You eyes, your hair, your face… Even your blood held your beauty~”
You blushed really red when he said that. Wait, blood? Well, that was strange but you still blushed from his compliment.
“Flavio… They’ll get me no matter what. They’ll look for me,” you said, almost crying.
“Oh.. don’t worry. I’ll close my shop and we can go anywhere…”
“No… please don’t do that for my sake,” tears fell down your cheeks.
“Oh, per favore non piangere, dear. My shop will be popular wherever it is,” he wiped your tears.
“Thank you… Flavio… I love you.”
He smiled and put his forehead on yours, “Ti amo troppo, (name)~”
