I have several dslrs...one very old the famous 1995-6 era DOS program Kodak DCS 460 which has the 18mm x 28mm M-6 Mil Spec sensor and it still works and is sharper at 6 megapixels than my Fuji S2 with the 15.6 x 23.8mm sensor is at 12 megapixels...But the older camera has no color controls whereas with Fuji I can play with color temp...Fuji's before S5 did not have the manual coupler for the older style AI lenses whereas the old DCS 460 does ( a removeable sensor back attached to a Nikon N-90s ) so on the older I can use AI manual lenses and my 24mm F 2.8 is actually = to a 30mm wide angle..and here you can see just how nice images from this camera are in terms of sharpness and color smoothness..only one ISO though 80 its a tank a relic weighs 6 lbs w a lens
Check this out and the EXIF info is correct

I only paid $160 for this camera on ebay...its insulated with a carbon fibre body to -50 and + 135..and uses those old PCMCIA Type III hard drives so I had to keep my old IBM laptop to process the RAW TIF's to DNG's then I can put them on an external HD and put them in this desktop and work them better But as you can see for a 14 yr old dslr that was $38,000 when new ...it still works

The 24 mm I have is a rare 1975 Sigma Filtermatic..it has a turret on the front and 4 filters are built into the lense that turn similar to Nikons 1000mm F 11 and 8mm from the early days The Sigma has an L137 uv an 82a blue an O range and a K yellow and on the front also has 62mm threads for a polarizer or IR filter ..It is incredible sharp...as are all fixed lenses...Those Nikon to M42 adapter with the glass element in them so you can achieve infinity focus only add another piece of glass and not a very good one to the optical formula of the lense. I had one once it was not very sharp BUT if you are doing macro work...and have the non glass element M42 to Nikon adaptor then it is super as you are just using your what ever existing lenses with the exact manufacturers optical formula and in macro mode..
I also own an old Vietnam era Nikkor 43-86mm zoom that was "AI'd" and worked super fine on my D1 that I had once upon a time and also meters very nicely with that old tank camera ..Yes its a slow process to convert filers between 2 computers with the DCS 460 But it makes me still feel that I am actually processing an image like in wet film days

Oh well the Nikon to Canon eos mount does not require a cheap glass element in the mount so you get the exact optical formula to work...w/o sacrificing quality ..and in manual metering mode get great images and infinity focus...The older Kodak DCS camera's need a hot mirror filter ..I did not have one so always had to color correct the moire pattern out of the images but reducing the blue and magenta channel...But a found a hot mirror filter on ebay last night w 62mm threads which means it will work on that 24mm lense and give me color perfection. I still like that camera as it is so well built and do not feel a bit afraid going out into the slippery woods with it...to photograph moss and lychen and vampyres
