Haha! That's very true ;]
I kinda switch with every drawing really :O With this one I sketched at 3X the final size. Then I blocked in some base colours and made layers over those with blacks and whites were there were shadows and highlights (seriously the file looks like a trainwreck of layers for everything). It was really all about playing with layer settings in photoshop. After, I did texture fills over the colour layers on the clothes/knife/shoes and used a brush to give texture to his head.
But I started playing with SAI lately and it's excellent for making lines and it's at least 50% faster and more accurate since you can change the flow of the pen (you can't on photoshop). Even though I made this about a month or so ago, my style changed a lot ^^" have you looked into SAI? It works wonders and makes filling colour 100000% easier if you connect the lines =] Come to think of it, even my colouring techniques have changed a lot from this... o.O

I'm glad!! I took a look at the ones you have posted and I really like them! =] You've got a great grasp on proportions and details ^^ But hmm... I found the free trial from systemax here [link] which I ran through a scan and came up safe. You're probably able to buy it in store, but I've used the free trial even after it expired. You're allowed to use it, but you can't save. Lately I draw in SAI, then print screen at 100% to another program where you can remove the white around the edges. (I usually paste it into Gimp [link] , then click "layers", "transparency", "colour to alpha", and select white. It removes all white without leaving that border -- you get just the lineart. Then save it as a png without background colour and open in PS).
Another good tutorial on colouring is here [link] =] It's actually the tutorial I used to colour my latest submissions. It looks more cartoony in her image, but she's able to make serious works like this one [link] using the same steps plus the texture bit that I used in my tonberry drawing =]
