Description Model: GF05 Feorin-Keora
Type: AtlO Fighter
Manufacturer: Veshja'un
Armaments:
2 Javelin Light MACs
6 Razor Micro MACs
1 Razor Light Auto Turret
20 Spectre Plasma Based Missiles

The Feorin fighter design originally started out as a light weight patrol craft for in atmosphere use. A pressing need for stronger fighters however, caused Veshja'un to merge it's Feorin model with it's older Keora space fighters. The resulting Feorin-Keora (Soaring Hunter) is an orbital fighter capable of descending to the surface of a planet where it can fly at supersonic speeds with it's jet engines and even hover in place using it's front turbines and main engine, with minimal assistance from the anti-grav pad on it's belly. While in space this Soaring Hunter becomes even more powerful, utilizing it's highly focused gravity thrusters to reach speeds far higher then any Fighter before it.

There are a lot of control surfaces on that baby. It must be extremely nimble, and the flight computer must be very advanced.

This fighter is the latest in Veshja'un engineering, a war machine that will be without equal in both space and atmosphere dogfights for years.

By gods I can spend ages staring at the sketchfab model! O_O
The main drive looks very detachable, so... is it detachable? (like... when in overload?)

Calates In reply to Tattorack [2014-03-10 18:13:21 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, I planed on uploading my models there so people can look at the full model.
It is actually, it's build like that cause it can rotate so the fighter can land and take off vertically. The slightly overpowered main drive can also be dropped when the reactors inside (since the main drive has both jet and gravity functionality) overload or in case you just want another bomb to drop.

Tattorack In reply to Calates [2014-03-10 19:02:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah cool! Now my eyes have REALLY something to drool at!
And I knew it was something like that. I recon it makes a pretty big boom. One thing though, what if attack the fighter from behind? The drive makes for a very good weakness....

Calates In reply to Tattorack [2014-03-11 10:35:45 +0000 UTC]

No worries I thought of that, the main drive is fully armored and none of the vulnerable parts are on the outside. The actual thrusters and jet exhausts/intakes can't really be armored that well (tough the fan blades are made from the same light-weight graphene composite as the rest of the fighter.) Besides, if you know a fighter pilot who can snipe straight into the thrusters of an evading target moving at several hundred kilometers per hour let me know cause I'd like to hire him/her.

It should also be noted that in full on fighter to fighter engagements the ULC would rely more on the Anura drones then on fighters.

Tattorack In reply to Calates [2014-03-11 10:58:02 +0000 UTC]

Well... there is one, but that was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away...
But what about guided missiles? They could be specified to track those parts (still would be a one in ten hit chance, but it does increas the risk somewhat...).

Yeah makes sense, considering the enemy they're used to fighting.

Calates In reply to Tattorack [2014-03-11 20:49:40 +0000 UTC]

True, true, but the standard for small missiles like that are plasma based in my universe. So the hull would melt anyway.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tattorack In reply to Calates [2014-03-11 22:02:32 +0000 UTC]

ALL the missile tech of your races is plasma based?
(Mine are pretty diverse; Terran/Craal/Garaag, pulsethermal. Goridian/Titan/Glish, proton. Oozerang, electrostatic. Just to name a few)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Calates In reply to Tattorack [2014-03-12 08:53:46 +0000 UTC]

Not all, just the ones they tend to use to track smaller vessels. The Terrans also use nukes and the Sarrians haven't got missiles at all, just plasma focused trough electro magnetism. I haven't exactly figured out what the ULC Havok anti-capitol ship misille is

Please remember that my universe isn't in the overly advanced bordering on fantasy setting . . . yet.

Tattorack In reply to Calates [2014-03-12 12:25:21 +0000 UTC]

Antimatter sounds like a good candidate. Already now adays it isn't too difficult to produce in a particle ecceletator or hadron collider. So for an anti-capitol missile...

Yet? Oh, so there will be other stories say a hundred years from the current setting?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Calates In reply to Tattorack [2014-03-12 21:24:08 +0000 UTC]

The problem with anti-matter is that it conflicts with alot of other theories, like the big bang. There would theoretically also be no way to contain it, we contain plasma with electromagnetism but electromagnetic fields have particles too and those 'normal' particles would explode when they came in contact with anti-matter.

Maybe, maybe not. I don't exactly think in a straight line when it comes to stories, I already have some that take place long after the current time frame.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tattorack In reply to Calates [2014-03-12 22:36:39 +0000 UTC]

Nope, that's wrong. Antimatter can be and has been stored before in something called a "penning trap".
I believe a Russian developed it? Here's wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antimatt… and apparently CERN uses it regularly to store antiprotons (negitons? ) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penning_…

I have loads, and that made it difficult to choose from where to start >.<
So I just decided to start "somewhere" in between a war and whatever comes next (hoping I don't loose or drown any readers...)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Calates In reply to Tattorack [2014-03-13 15:43:58 +0000 UTC]

It also states that anti-matter forms in the magnetic fields around earth, which if true mean that my (sadly former) scientist friend was right and anti-matter is nowhere near as strong as people claim it to be. Same as with Titanium. I also noticed the pening trap page doesn't cite and references or sources, wikipedia's open door policy doesn't make it very reliable. But I'll give you this one.

Tattorack In reply to Calates [2014-03-13 19:32:32 +0000 UTC]

Well, its not like Wiki was the first time I read about antimatter and its containment, but I can't link you to it because... well... its on paper
Generally a piece of antimatter eliminates an equal size as itself, the most destructive thing is the blast of electromagnetic radiation (mostly gamma I think... I need to refresh myself on that) but I do not believe it produces a conventional explosion (again, not sure...).
Yeah, I've seen some definite bullcrap on Wiki, but to my knowledge they don't last very long...
