“The Capture of the Sirens”

Mermaid photo-shoot from the Summer of 2012

Model: Mackenzie Henderson

Makeup/Hair: Leica Baldwin

Costumes: Caden Kluge

Photographer: Leica Baldwin

Photographer's assistant: Caden Kluge

Producer: Alex Alexander

Its low tide at the lagoon, and more than just fish have washed up on the shore: A captured moment exposing the distinction between the mermaids we see from fairy-stories and the ones that would really exist in the wild, preying on shipwrecks and wildlife. One conjures the idea of collecting shells and trinkets from the lagoon floor, while one evokes the swell of a beached Mermaid and the stench of rotting fish.

48-hour photo-shoot done one week over the summer in Florida: An intense collaborative effort between Leica Baldwin and Caden Kluge, with help from many others most especially including Alex Alexander, John Murphy, Mackenzie Henderson, Dale Yount, and the lovely people from the Florida State Parks (Locations: Ponce-de-Leon Springs and Morrison Springs in DFS, FL).

This is so beautiful!  I love the contrasting textures and the headpiece is just lovely. Seeing everyone involved  makes me extra proud to know them!  (I'm a member of St. Agatha's).

Oh cool! We borrowed a lot from around the town - Mrs. Dale provided a lot of the props and the camera. A lot of the headpieces came from Alex's craft bins. And John helped with the editing too!
