Yes, yet another Life is Strange drawing. I just can't get enough, it seems. Max Caulfield, lost in thought at Blackwell Academy.More LiS portraits:
This drawing was a good excercice for me, specifically about learning how to properly use colors for lighting/shadowing, thanks to the help of a ref picture taken from Episode 1, when Max is chilling out at Blackwell.
I need to lose the habit of using the same tone but lighter/darker shade, and instead - like in this drawing - use different colors more suited. A few more drawings like this, and I think I'll have learnt the lesson, that I could apply to entirely original creations... I hope.
Was also good training to practise speed, and overall drawing efficiency.
EDIT: Oh and yay for background! I need to do that more often, and plan ahead a background for all my work from now on. It gives so much more depth than just a black background.

Yes, I feel the same about Life is Strange. However, I can only come back to some select chapters of the earlier episodes. I don't think I can get through the whole game again just yet. I wouldn't survive a second playthrough right now ^^

Yeah, it's right these characters aren't often being drawn. But it's also understandable, as they don't get much screentime, making them much harder to get attached to.
When I'm done with most major secondary characters though (thinking Kate and Warren) I might start working on these too... if I'm courageous enough!

I was actually trying to understand how to use colors for shadowing when making this piece. I think I got the basics, now I need to apply and practise! A small step toward improving my work ^^

I have to say that I can not reach that level of accuracy without reference pictures - it is very apparent if you check my few previous drawings. But it was good training for me, both for practising speed, and learning how to properly use colors for shadowing and lighting.
