So, what is it? Is it a teleportation device like the Stargate from the Stargate franchise?

I guess so! I'm unfamiliar with the Stargaze franchise so I wouldn't know how their functionality works. There's six worlds and there's a corresponding gate on each side, and they end up being used as teleportation devices between worlds, but they're really more like... sentient energy storage devices and a side effect is that they link worlds.

Stargates serve as conduits for wormholes that can be opened up anywhere there is another Stargate (even in space). There are endless numbers of potential end points (as long as you have the ability to build Stargates). Transportation between them is generally painless, causes no harm to solid matter and most forms of energy, and is near instantaneous.

Hmmm, okay. There's a fixed number of these, they're sentient so they can't be built, they're definitely not potentially finite, and Archwynd's gate on Wynd only links to Archwynd's gate on Damera, etc, you definitely can't go to any one of them. So, a similar concept. Any similarities are definitely inadvertent, though.
