Description This is the first baby my partner and I took in together. He wasn't exactly a foster -- he was found wandering the streets semi-locally and the lady who found him couldn't keep him at her place, so he came to stay with us overnight, then moved on to someone else the next day. Eventually his owners were located and he was returned to them.

Since he came to us unnamed, I called him Captain Jack (Harkness, not Sparrow) because he was such a sweety it was clear he was going to be a heartbreaker. It turned out his name is actually "Charger"... but he'll always be Captain Jack to me.

(Unfortunately, just today, his owners have made contact and mentioned they want to sell him now that he's bigger as he is "too expensive" and "chews everything". Poor not-so-little sweety.)

How big did they expect him to get? Like honestly, people. Puppies grow into dogs.

He looks so sweet.

I know, right? Silly people.

He was/is a sweetheart, too, absolutely.

Aww. Lucky! He was such a beautiful baby, a real pleasure to have in my home. And fun to photograph as he's so 'pretty'!

We would have loved to have adopted him, but unfortunately we aren't allowed. We're in a unit with a small yard and the rental agreement allows only a single animal of up to 10kg on the premises. As a 3-4 month pup, this boy was already over the 10kg limit!

Since then, too, we're adopted a small breed terrier mix so we could get her the surgery she needed.

Awe, cute little guy. I know sometimes dogs chew 'cause they're bored. I don't know how the owners keep him (if they give him enough attention) but he could have gotten used to living on the streets w/ people petting him, always something to do.

Yeah. I think they just don't want to put in the effort. It's sad because the lady who took him in after me was wary of returning him for similar reasons and she offered money to his owners for him at the time, reminding them how expensive owning a dog is and how much work is involved, but they wouldn't hear of it. Now, six months down the track they're ready to give him up and she can't take him anymore! It just makes me mad and sad.

He's still only a puppy, and puppies DO chew; and yes, they do chew when they're bored! He was a good boy when he was a pup, if he's not now it's because they haven't taken the time and effort to train him properly and is their own fault.
