Pastel crayons (dry), on tinted paper, 29 * 20 cm.2009
My first go with pastel crayons, about 6 hours work.
Inspired by an article by Vivien Walters.

Si je puis dire, je vous recommanderais de commencer par les pastels secs. Et un bon papier conçu pour les pastels (comme le velours).

The article was published in the SAA Paint magazine, unfortunately I don't think one can find it online. It might be possible to order back issues from SAA's website. If you give me a few days, I could maybe try to scan the article for you, if I still have it.

yeah! but this medium is much older than da vinci's era (it was 1st used from the egyptians) but leonardo's the master!
you should try it one day. it is available in pencil and chalk ( chalk gives a smoother and softer look than pencil)
