I love this painting! I love how realistic the furr looks - so soft and fluffy, and how you've captured the cats expression and enjoyment. This picture really shows everything I love about pastels and their possibilities

Have you ever tried pastel pencils? They're great to work with, and much easier than pastel crayons if you ask me. ;)

They can be used just like regular coloured pencils, but they blend better and give the same velvety effect as pastel crayons (plus they make precision work a lot easier). Not as messy as crayons either; although they do produce little clouds of "dust" when rubbed all too frenetically onto the paper.

Thank you! I bought a few Faber-Castell Polychromos that I used for this one, but had to use some complementary F-C Pastel pencils for the missing colours, like crimson and ultramarine. My pastel supply is rather sparse at the moment.
Although I'm not able to compare the Polychromos with any other brand, I really liked the feel of them.
