PERSONALITY

Rye is a rather lonesome individual, spending the majority of his time off at the barn attending to his own obligations. This doesn’t mean he’s antisocial, though! He loves socializing, although he can be a bit awkward at times and stumble over his words. He's very easy to catch off-guard and fluster. Rye is generally unsure of the happenings of city life, given that he lives outside of the busier part of the city. He typically only goes into town to do business with his owner, and so a lot of his knowledge is confined to those specific routes he travels on and locations he visits.
Rye is an impressively patient and observant cat, which comes in very handy for his job. He can sit and keep watch for hours on end, though he's been known to doze off every once in a while, which ties into his streak of bad luck. Rye is very prone to accidents, and just general misfortunes. Whether it be forgetting something at home and only realizing it after he's been walking out for, or getting a paw stuck in some floorboards, he's seen it all!

HISTORY

CW: None

  • Rye has lived a very ordinary life! Some would even call it boring, depressingly uneventful. But Rye seems to be content with it.
  • Rye was born to two cats named Colt and Riley alongside Barley, Buckwheat, and Farro. The cats has a humble upbringing, and were raised in an empty barn stall for the first few months of their lives. Once they were old enough to walk around, they began getting acquainted with the farm life.
  • They were taught the basics that they should know about a range of animals and upkeep, and at a year and a half of age, said goodbye to their parents and were sent off to respective locations, taken in by whoever wanted to pay for them. It was bittersweet, but they knew they would likely see each other again, and they had been preparing for this moment since birth. Rye, personally, was excited to finally have some independence and put his skills to use!
  • Rye was put in charge of basic tasks at first, and as time progressed he was given more and more responsibility. However, he slowly lost control of his tasks, and was "sidelined". His owner lightened his load considerably, and he was asked to just keep watch over the animals and catch any mice or swat any bugs that might be causing a ruckus. Rye was considerably embarrassed at first, but soon realized that this pace was the best fit for him. He did his best to go above and beyond at times, in hopes of making everyone proud.
  • For the past few years, Rye has lived in a blissfully dull schedule. Every once in a while he'll make trips with his owner into town as company, but aside from that he's just living day-to-day the best he can!
