Crovan, like Cayson and Jay, was an engine built to service on Western rails. Built in 1877 at Wolverhampton Works, he was put into service to work at several dock yards with his siblings before given special permission to work on passenger trains whether they were mainline locals or branch lines. He continued working on the GWR Network until his class was replaced. He was ready to be scrapped, but was preserved by a heritage railway where he worked for years until being bought by STH to work as a shunter at Vicarstown or take local trains.

Fun fact: Cayson and Crovan once met back in their early lives together. They worked together for a short time until Crovan was relocated to another yard.
