Description First thing I've drawn in weeks! I'm finally on vacation! so happy!

The movie Trailer for The Book of Life came out and words can not express how excited I am for this movie! it's a feast for the eyes and it's everything I could want in animation and so much more. and it comes out the day before my birthday!

But anyways, I knew I just had to draw La Muerte! her design is so beautiful! I hope I did her justice!

Also she's based on DΓ­a de los Muertos, she's Death, full of skulls, black hair... and the movie comes just before your birthday? Sounds like she was made just for you Β 

I love how you depicted her, the details on her hair lights and the expressions on the little skulls on her hat! I can see a lot of detail on the yellow flowers... that must have taken some time! The result was great!

I'm curious about this movie just for her now!

This movie was made for me, a sign from above to keep pushing forwards in wanting to make cartoons, if ones like this can get made. so can mine.

this took forever, but I was so exicted the entire time it felt like no time at all.

AND the creator on tumblr saw it and reblogged it I was so happy.

Very nice work over all, I enjoy all the small details you put into this, capturing this character.Β 
One of her hands seems a bit slightly smaller then the other however it could be her large hat
that's throwing my perception off a bit!-regardless this is a great piece and you've clearly
gotten stronger in your coloring/poses as well! x)

I feel as though you tried a lot of new things with this, and they worked really well! The hair for example looks SO super cool! I love the texture, and its highlighted in a way that isn't jarring or too bright.Β  I'd be a tiny bit careful with using it on a larger scale as the brush looks low res though! I really love how her face came out, it's very you, but still true to the character (from what we've seen of her anyways ) also the pattern on the dress is perfect! It's tight, and busy, but the opacity over the red (or even resizing, if its an image) works so well for it, that it doesn't look out of place. I also love the work around her eyes, and the golden swirls. Great work, Jess!
