OoohHey look, here's some new 2013 Chel Stuff now!
Now with sound!
I'd like a critique on the audio clip I composed as well. It still ain't perfect, (I guess it never will be for me) but it's a lot better since my first sound test. And I don't have a good mic yet to record my own audio. But I will soon! *shakefist*
Oh yeah, and added bulk to the tail so it isn't a wavy noodle anymore *waavvvynoodle*

SOOOOO I am an animation student after all huh?
This is my first official full animation assignment at the Art Institute of Colorado (unless you count my Bionicle/Pokemon stop motion from last year: [link] ). About time I did some good old fashioned 2d animation around here... and you thought I was lazy.
Okkkk fine. I am lazy. Sush you.
But I worked my butt off on this and am running off of two cans of Monster and no sleep!

Explanation time! This is obviously a super rough test animation: no sound, no detail, no background, no color (yet). However the project requirements did not need any of that and sound will be added next Wednesday. I obviously did an animation of my werewolf character Chel because she needs some love. No real backstory here... she's randomly out during the full moon and is all like "It's MORPHIN' TIEM! WRROUAAH!!" And thus awesomeness ensues.
I had trouble deciding just HOW Chel should go about the transformation process (the concept totally changed from the original idea). That's why I put that poll up a little while ago to see what people liked about transformations. My werewolves aren't traditional werewolves after all. In this case Chel was born a werewolf and thus she is much more in tune with her shifting ability and it comes naturally... therefore it's a lot smoother and quicker for her, also enjoyable. If she could, she'd stay in wolf form all the time :3

Oh, and one more thing I'd like to point out about the splash image: I DREW A DAMN HUMAN AND IT TURNED OUT GOOD.

This was a nice treat to come home to; and you really bring home the spirit of what I think a werewolf should be.
The first thing that caught me was the figure leaping into the scene, which made me envision she was running away after having this feel of "something's not right", and the way her pupils grew upon seeing the full moon was a great way to start the transition.
Another aspect of this piece that caught my attention was the relative subtlety of her claws growing in, and the feet going to digit-grade(sp?)...that was very smooth and well done in the roughs, so I can imagine how it'll look when the project is finished off in full, living color.
I think the thing I liked the best was watching the figure rip off her shirt instead of simply bursting through it; this gives me the impression that despite her turning into a bestial creature, she still possesses intelligence and the ability to make a conscious choice. If there was one part of this piece that won me over, it was that. Excellent spin on the classic transformation.
Of course, the howl...you've GOT to have a howl when you finish a werewolf transformation, and yours was quite impacting and better than average. The animation of her bounding off in her wolf-self had a great deal of energy, but being a rough, it was hard to see whether she was more angry, energetic, or just plain defiant, but I'm nit-picking a little.
Overall take on this piece: I like the ambition behind it, and although some of the aspects were tried and true, you did have a decent amount of originality, and your own spin on the transformation scored some points there. The animation is pretty damn smooth, and I can tell there is a great deal of talent behind the scene with an increasing level of skill. I'd LOVE to see what you do with this piece even three or six months down the road...I believe you'll evolve to an even higher level of expression than you're already at. ((And believe me, you're pretty high on that level of expression in the first place; it's what earned the first compliment you received from me.)
The impact was also impressive, specifically those eyes, the ripping of the shirt, and the bounding offstage at the end.
This is an excellent piece at 4.25 out of 5.00
Please, keep up the great work, and I can't wait to see what you do next.

For being one of the first animations made, it's still impressive today in my eyes as it already was back then.
And from the view as a fan of TFs n' were-curses the whole sequence caught its spirit perfectly.
Truly one of many masterpieces ever made n' many more to come, and I'm still willing to look through 'em all properly as soon as possible.
Still wish I could've done it sooner. >.<;

Marvelous! I just can't wait for this sequence to get finished.
As for the audio:
I would suggest to speed up the rythm of the heartbeat during the start of the transformation to make it sound more stressfull to the body.
Also a slightly (painfull) moan, for example when the claws or tail grow in would be lovely to sweeten your tf up!

I think that you did an awesome job there.
but,I do have some things I just need to point out.
1. the part where the face was turning into a wolf, the outline for the human face was still there.
2. I think you should add more expression on the face to add feeling in the frames.
3. (last thing). if you can, try to add fur detail and dimension. it will really give it that 3-D effect.

No, sadly I will never get around to finishing this piece.
HOWEVER
I am still highly interested in re-visting it and starting all over again from scratch one day because I've got some much better ideas now. Can't promise anything soon though

I always imagined a transformation being really painful.. kinda like growing pains but 10 times worse kinda lol. I like your idea too though
