You captured that sleeping dog look well. The eyes in particular. I mean there are plenty of images out there of Canid characters sleeping, but somehow some little detail I can't quite put my finger on really gives this more of the proper look of a dozing dog that doesn't want to be disturbed. Brings to mind the raspy "sigh" mine makes when she's laying about.

Now that you mention it, cats do seem to have that expression even more often. (Perhaps because one sees them lazing about more often)

The slight tilt of the head, lazy or relaxed ears and the brows draw the sleeping dog look. A very good job of it too.

Probably, though I could see a different picture if the ears and head were in any other position. I think to make any certain picture work, all the features have to be in just the right spot or at the right angle. In my opinion you can not create an expression fully with just a couple of the attributes, it has to be the entire picture that sets it.

Does the Graphite program give you those lovely textures? Or Gimp?

Hah, actually, graphite means it was drawn with a pencil on paper :'> I usually use mechanical pencils with 0.7mm lead diameter.
The coloring, shading and texturing is done digitally using Gimp.

Oh! Well, it's a brilliant combination. Do you do the sketch on paper and then go over it digitally, then, or simply enhance the existing sketch? Whenever i try the latter it... doesn't look great.Β Β
