Cherry live has changed completely, when he was still Darren Moore, a poor man looking for a job on the streets. He didn't have a family to rely on or a luck to find a stable job for that matter. One cold Ocotober night he was proposed a job as a waiter at one of the mansions at rich district of city. His employer was an influential man, who liked to organise spiritual seances and invite witches to his house. Despite trying to acquire powers by all means, he still was nothing but a mere human. Driven to insanity by this fact, he looked for any way he could get more powerful. He considered summoning a demon but he didn't want to put his soul at stake. Just as he was loosing fate, he found an ancient book, where one of the chapters was about ghouls. If he can't summon already existing monster to do his bidding, why not make one himself? And who would be more perfect to experiment on than a little nobody already working for him, right?

It was then that Darren Moore dissapeared from the world of living and a hunger driven beast was born. The bits and pieces of his former life was pushed aside, as he was drugged and treated like an animal. The only thing that mattered was human flesh from robbed graves and being obedient to his master. After a while, Cherry was made a main attraction at occult meetings in the mansion, always behind bars which couldn't hide him from the stares of humans. Days become months, it seemed that this nightmare will never end until a certain witch came.

Hearing rumors about a ghoul being kept as a pet, she came to the mansion to see if it's true. Shocked at bestiality of the owner and circle of friends she decided to save the poor creation of human greed. At first, she became one of them, always observing and getting to know every sinle thing about the occult group. Then, the big fire happened. Policemens looking at the crime scene reported that almost all the members have died in the fire. Almost, because the survivor of the fire, an old butler said that there was a one more person who came to the meeting: "A stunning young lady, dressed in all black." The case was unsolved, nobody could make the cause of the fire, why corpses of deceased seemed to be comfortably sleeping during the fire, who was the lady in black who was never found and why there was a big, empty cage in the center of the room. The locals quickly assumed that it was a devil's work, because the whole city was full of rumours about occult meetings and mysterious shrieks coming from that place before the catastrophe. Cinders of the mansion was exorcised with holy water and nobody ever talk about it, fearing that the devil will come once again to the city.

In the time being, Cherry was with the witch. Learning how to controle his needs for human flesh, rehabing from drugs and trying to accept himself as a monster he became. She never gave her name to him, but was the one to call him Cherry first, seeing as it was his favourite fruit when he was human and always saying that the red looks stunning on him. Many years passed until Cherry become the person he is today. He was always near his saviour, helping her when needed. The witch died peacefully in her bed, at the old age of 147. It was 1997, Cherry was grieving having lost the only person that saw him as something more than a monster. At first, he stayed in the witch cottage, cleaning the place and looking for any kind of information that she might have left him. He didn't found out her name, or if she had any family but every now and then he would come across the name "Devil's Cove". Learning about the town, he decided to move there, hoping to find out something about a witch and start a new life.

Cherry arrived soon after that, taking only his priced red leather jacket with him (present from the witch). For first few years he was kind of a loner, especially suspicious about humans but after a while he started yearning for some sort of contact with others. He made friends with couple of residents and found a new job as a bartender. Soon enough he started warming up to others, and although he is still a little aloof towards regular humans, he tries his best to give them a chance.
