It depends on how much shading and detail you'd want incorporated in the image, but since this was just a wee one (about post card-sized), it only took maybe a week of off and on work.

MINE LOOKS OKAY. I MEAN, DON'T FILL THE SCANNER WITH SAND AND THEN SHOVE THE SCRATCH BOARD AROUND IN IT AND THEN SLAM THE LID DOWN. 'LESS IF LIKE, THE SCANNER ITSELF EMITS SOMETHING HARMFUL, LIKE DIABETES, AND WILL INFECT YOUR EASILY-SUSCEPTIBLE SCRATCH BOARD.
