Description And my watchers are thinking...umm, haven't we seen this before??

It's raining. I need practice on backgrounds and shading.

I wasn't 100% satisfied with the older version:

There were problems with the anatomy. The background sucked. The shading was terrible. I kept the pose because, well, I love it. I just fixed some musculature, eyes and fur. I am much happier with the shading and background.

I am in constant pursuit of improvement. I think I will be going back and redoing a lot of my older stuff. Yeah, it's rehashing old stuff, but I'm hoping (along with new work) that I will continue to explore new techniques and grow artistically.

And who knows, a few years from now, I may go back and redo this redo

The story behind the image is to show that lionesses are devoted mothers, even to cubs that aren't their own.

I adore how in this picture it's Sarafina with Simba and Sarabi is grooming Nala. I definitely think that this is an attempt by the mothers to get to know and establish a bond with their future son/daughter-in-law.

Yeah it's so much better positioned! And Nala's leg doesn't hang over the frame either, which was a lil distracting on the previous one. So thanks for the lovely redo!

If I was to recommend something though, if you ever plan another redo, give the rock a sharper texture that would fit the lionesses focal plane.

I do that pretty much with any animal character. Like, I love settings like Kung Fu Panda where the animals move and act like humans, but I often like to write or draw them in more animal-istic situations.

I agree 100%: While Davy Jones is a wonderful character, he's definitely NOT 'sunny'! Still, he's an epic pirate! I love ol' Davy Jones!

Actually, we've begun our Winter season... But when it IS Summer, here in Australia, it's very warm and sunny. And hot! VERY HOT! How sad, that many Canadians are being affected by floods!

Oh, I wish you all a warm, sunny Summer soon...

HAHA yes, I should have realized you are in winter, I don't know why I said summer. Duh... I've always wanted to visit Australia, particularly Darwin and the Kimberley region. For some reason, the west coast appeals to me.

Yes, the flooding is in western Canada. I'm on the east coast, but I lived in the area where the flooding is taking place. It's surreal to see roads that I once walked on now under feet of raging water. Calgary is known for its warm climate and sunny skies, so this is far from ordinary.

You're welcome! Oh yes, I would have to agree with you: Nala and Sarabi were wonderful characters! I especially liked the way both lionesses asserted themselves - also, showed great courage - in the face of adversity! I do so enjoy the company of strong female characters!

Definitely plan a trip to the Kimberley region! Well worth the price, for a great safari!

I'm so glad you haven't been affected by the floods! But how sad, for those who HAVE been! I couldn't imagine wading waist-deep through dirty water - unless I'm fording a river or creek, that is! But to have to fight huge torrents of water, just to cross the street, is unthinkable!

I think that's why I love them so much. I love strong female Disney characters, but lionesses are naturally brave and I'm glad they kept that in the lionesses.

There are lots of places in Australia I'd like to see, but the Kimberley calls to me. In particular the King George river and falls.

Things are slowly starting to improve in Calgary, but Medicine Hat is in trouble now. But they've been sand-bagging the heck out of the city, so we're all hoping they will be spared. These things are so rare in Canada. At most, we may get a few tornadoes and some bad winter storms. But that's about it. Even Manitoba, two provinces over, is going through flooding now (which is normal in early spring but not at this time of year).

I think that most women (and girls) enjoy strong female characters! Here's how one Broadway site describes Adult Nala: Nala is strong, confident, grounded, attractive, a mature woman for her teenage years, regal. And of course, we all know how courageous Sarabi was!

And yes, real lionesses, such as Kamunyak: The Blessed Lioness among African Lions (the lioness who adopted oryx calves) , Lady Luiwa, the 'last' lioness and Ma di Tau (β€œMother of Lions”) - The Last Lions have shown us time and time again, why these magnificent animals are so admired! These lionesses' stories are truly inspiring!

Oh yeah, there's much to see (as well as do), here in Australia! But I'd have to admit; the Kimberley region is both wild and beautiful! I wouldn't mind seeing the place for myself! (Up till now, I've only ever seen documentaries and photos! )

That's so sad, that many parts of Canada, are still hard at work, battling floods! Here's hoping that the people of Medicine Hat, Manitoba, and all of the other regions that have been placed 'under watch', will soon know relief!

So many global locations are suffering from the effects of disasters (both climactic and man-made)! When will it all end?

It is natural to be attracted to strong female characters, but being in the PotC fandom, strong female characters are instantly branded a "Mary Sue". That's why the TLK fandom is refreshing for me.

Yeah, there are a lot of places in this world I'd love to see, but honestly, the only places that are must-see-before-I-die are Torngat National Park in Labrador, Canada and Africa (too many countries to consider so I just list the continent!). I'm hoping six years from now I'll be visiting Kinshasa, DR Congo (but not for vacation purposes).

Things are getting better in the west, the waters are going down. Now they have to clean up the mess. It's sad because it's even worse in India right now, affecting a lot more people who don't have money or insurance. I don't think these disasters are going away anytime soon.
