CapitalSeed In reply to ember-reed [2006-10-04 17:41:39 +0000 UTC]

btw; in the skate video I made the sound file which accompanies it, and the video on DA itself is really crappy quality just like the animation
(looks much better not on the net)

Amazing animation! Despite the stylized drawings, toward the end (after the figure has been zoomed in on) I forget I'm watching a drawing. It's magical. I really like the shaky-ness of the camera, it gives the feeling that it's being filmed by someone out to skateboard instead of just an animation of someone skateboarding.

that looks awesome, how do you do those

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CapitalSeed In reply to Stapic [2006-09-18 15:43:58 +0000 UTC]

its pilot pen and lots of notecards (flipbook animation)

I filmed the shot, and put it on my computer- then I played the video frame by frame- each frame I held up the flip card to the computer screen and roughly sketched out (in pen) the scene... after I was done with the sketches I went back in and made the lines thick and smooth- then finally I added little affects like the shadow of the board, "no Parking" on the ground, etc.... it took 4ever and was quite tedious but it came out pretty decent

That is some wonderful animation indeed... You've done incredible job of drawing it and bringing it all together... and I must say that I particularly like the angle and perspective that you have this from, it really feels like you're there, too, much thanks to the telescope/binoculars type of view that this one has. Also, I think it goes quite smoothly and all in all it's very detailed, has asked for a lot of patience, I am sure. I particularly like the skateboard tricks, that was nifty and the twirling zoom in the beginning. That's some skilled animation, good job on it. Be proud!
(and sorry for the late reply to the post (this link) that you left at my thread... I'm so late to everything these days, haha... Anyway. Very good!)

thanks for the comments, no worries about the timing though! just happy more peeps are seeing it, anyways yea it was a bunch of work, and the view is called "fisheye" you can buy an expensive lense (or you can flip a telephoto lense around backwards and tape it to your camera.... thats the way I did it...) thanks again

holy crap! that's got to be the best FBF animation... well, since every other animation here sux, it's got to be the best animation I've seen. Do you get a lot of practice or is this the first time, cuz my first FBF animation [link] was pretty kewl but not as awsome as this one. KEEP IT UP!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CapitalSeed In reply to Mrcrapinson [2006-01-14 11:51:19 +0000 UTC]

hmm---> nice animation: how hard is that easy gif animator to use? I've been putting off learning flash... anyways yea this was my first flip book, I'de rather do stuff digitally but I dunno I guess this is a start...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mrcrapinson In reply to CapitalSeed [2006-01-14 21:15:07 +0000 UTC]

easy gif. animator is easy but annoying to use. You can only do FBF and to use it, you have to make a drawing and save it, then do the next sequence and save it as another and so on... when you finaly have like 50 immages, you put them together and put the timing in it... my second animation was easier cuz all I used was Photoshop and ImmageReady
