Description

'eyyyyy a new group~

Also whoooo I got the name "Delsin" first this time ALSO ALSO oh my god I just realised that he's basically a demon-possessed Spencer Reid. JUST IGNORE THAT AND PRETEND THAT I CAME UP WITH THE IDEA ON MY OWN

Basics

Name:
    Delsin C. [and Dameon]

Nicknames:
Del, D&D[[ mostly ironically and only if people know about Dameon ]]

Age:
    24

Height / Weight:
    6'3" / 153lbs

Birthday / Sign:
    June 4th / Gemini

Voice:
    Chris Patton

Orientation:
He considers this irrelevant but he'll go with bi-curious asexual

Shipping?:
You caaaaaan though I dunno who'd wanna. I like establishing bonds beforehand though - and headcanons are whatever you wanna do as long as they aren't pushy xD

But... what ARE they?
Delsin is a normal human bean. He has no special abilities, no freaky awesome powers, just a good mind and a cheerful personality... that's been all but torn apart and rebuilt by the Rage Demon that's invading his brain space, trying to possess him named Dameon. The two currently "share" Delsin's body though only Delsin (and other demons and by extension, other demon-detecting things - in fact I'll leave it up to personal interpretation. Have fun out there, mind-readers) can hear Dameon.

Personality

With a lost, slightly confused default expression set into his sleep-deprived eyes, skin pallid figure lithe and limbs kept close to his torso, murmuring under his breath, Delsin appears stand-offish and antisocial. This isn't true. Delsin is just extremely paranoid, jumpy and rather nervous. He's easily excitable though he has a tendency to assume that people who are being nice to him have some sort of ulterior motive. That being said, he's also very curious and loves to learn, with a penchant for empathy towards others; he thinks lowly of himself and will always prioritize other people and their needs first, often leading to personal neglect.

He finds it very hard to focus on most things that are outside his specific areas of interest as he constantly has a voice in the back of his head insisting that he hates everything and that everyone hates him because of his seemingly distracted impressions. He has Prosopagnosia or face-blindness and faces, names and sometimes even personality traits blur together unless he can write down certain traits about people he meets. He avoids eye contact most of the time, focusing instead on a different part of whomever he's talking to so he can try to remember everything they say because what other people have to say is very important to him; putting others before himself keeps his mind distracted from himself, which he finds welcoming. he will often repeat what others say in situations he finds fitting, which works both in and against his favour.

He knows that he used to be very charismatic once upon a time and often gets frustrated when what he wants to say ends up not being what he wants to say. His speech is littered with pauses as if his train of thought suddenly stopped and he forgot what he was trying to say.

Despite his (supposed) flaws with people, Delsin has an impressive memory and can remember facts and explanations that he's read and been told - as long as there isn't a face to match the words to. He often takes friendship very seriously as he values life and relationships and has a tendency to be very loyal whether other people want him to be or not. He's also very receptive to instruction and doesn't give up once committed and will complete a task he's given despite how many obstacles he runs into. He's also a gifted writer, being able to express himself much more succinctly and with a great deal more personality in any written form though sometimes even that can get corrupted by an unwanted visitor.

Said unwanted visitor is a majour stressor in Delsin's daily life and has left him prone to breakdowns when pushed to a metaphorical or physical limit. Two things are possible when this happens (based on the roll of a die): 1. He shies away from everyone and everywhere, retreating into himself and finding somewhere private to cry. 2. He undergoes a sudden shift in mood and personality.

That is Dameon. Dameon is every bad idea anyone's ever had a thought about, snide and cocky, full of empty threats and emotionally distant. He replies to everything with sarcasm though he also finds it frustrating that Delsin isn't as charismatic as he wants and finds himself getting impatient when he wants to use a word that Delsin's brain doesn't know (not that that happens often). Despite being a complete jerk, he's rather calm and he's good at talking Delsin down from the brink, leading himself to relinquish control of Delsin. He's possessive (hah) and when he isn't treating Delsin's body like it's his, he gets jealous whenever Delsin makes friends with someone that isn't him. He can't voice these frustrations to anyone but Delsin though he can sometimes take advantage of Delsin's concentration by taking possession of his arm and writing something directly contrasting what Delsin's trying to write down.

Delsin has learned recently that positive physical touch (hugs, arm-hanging, pats) grosses Dameon out and sends him reeling into Delsin's subconscious; when this happens, he tends to revert back to how he used to be; cheerful, agreeable, eager to learn. He still has problems with eye contact but he loves these instances because he loves his friends and he loves being able to comprehend and understand and listen properly and get along with others.

History

Once upon a time, Delsin was an adorable child in a saccharine wonderland populated by smiling faces and endless possibilities. He was an outdoorsy kid, going outside every morning and not coming home until the sun was already gone, spending many days exploring the vast woods outside in the backyard of his parents rural country ranch house.

He was popular in school if a little weird, making up for his inability to communicate effectively with other people by being a very astute listener. He always had face-blindness and took up writing at an early age to jot down everything he'd heard and learned and discovered, taking an analytical approach to learning what were otherwise voices in a room. he was receptive in class, gave right answers often and everyone wanted to sit next to him in class; he loved it, even if he knew it was mostly so people could cheat off of him.

He went to the same schools with the same group of kids his entire life, spending his days at school and continuing to explore the woods behind his house if he wasn't going to the library to read. Kids would offer for him to hang out with them but he would politely decline most of the time; they all had lots of friends but he still yearned for more knowledge. Spending time by himself in the forest, nestled high in a tree with four books readily available in his trusty satchel... that was the time he valued most despite his love for connecting with others.

Until one day when he fell.

He could tell you he has the best memory of anyone he's ever known but for some reason, he can not remember what happened that day, when, for how long. But he COULD finally see a face... and it terrified him. When he woke up from his fall (he had to guess it was hours, at least), there was a figure standing in front of him; tall, gaunt, smelling of rotting flesh and sending a chill through Delsin's frame. A long neck craned downwards, stringy black hair floating in a dead wind that wasn't there, a twisted grin on its solid black face, full of disgusting, yellowed, saliva-slicked teeth shining. And there was an eye. A single, glowing, acid-green eye..

He became withdrawn. The creature introduced itself as "Dameon, a creature of disease" and repeated to Delsin that they were stuck together now whether they liked it or not for... several years. Delsin became temperamental, seemingly shifting between uncontrollable mood swings and irrational anger at the most mundane things. People pulled away and he, in turn, almost dropped out of school altogether. People asked about the scar, discoloured eye, and tattoo that trailed all the way from the base of Delsin's skull snaking down to his left arm but he couldn't tell anyone because he didn't know. Dameon knew but wouldn't tell the boy because it was more fun to keep his "new friend" in the dark. What was much less fun to the demon, Delsin realised, was that he had very little control over Delsin's body, being relegated to little more than a voice constantly nagging him, distracting him while he was trying to learn, talking over his thoughts, purposely confusing Delsin to make it harder for him to communicate in attempts to whittle down Delsin's defense so he could finally claim the body he thought was easy pickings. He DID have vague control over Delsin's left arm though and sometimes utilized that just to screw around with his "buddy".

After struggling through the rest of his increasingly-miserable high school life, Delsin started frequenting hospitals and doctors (an exorcism never really occurred to him) for anti-psychotics just to get Dameon to shut up for a little while. While they're little more than placebos, he took to chugging pill after pill, medication after medication, trying new things and unhealthy combinations though he could never reach the point of death - if there was a SINGULAR good thing about Dameon, it was that he really didn't want this vessel to die so he made sure Delsin couldn't kill himself; suicide wasn't a viable option.

He could pop all the pills he wanted though-- no, wait. Dameon felt a pull towards a town. He nagged Delsin about it for several months before the young man finally caved in and moved out of his parents' home and into the strange place called "Indieville". Satiated that he finally got his way, Dameon got considerably more tame, though that did little to make the now-broken Delsin feel better; now he was in a new place, away from everything he'd known, surrounded by blank-faced people.

He never was once to back down from a challenge, though, despite how badly he wanted to run away. His parents, though lost about what happened to their once-happy little boy, continued to help support him though he insisted on doing most of it himself - he writes to them regularly.

Stats / Additional

Stats:

    STURDINESS:
    CONFIDENCE:
    INTUITION:
    LUCK:

Job:
    - Owner of Carver Books, the local bookstore

Money:
     $587

Items:
Satchel - Delsin is never seen without this on one of his shoulders. It carries everything, notably his notebook, writing utensils, numerous medications, phone and several boxes of band-aids, a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and gauze pads. For some reason.
Notebook - This is his eyes when it comes to recognizing people as well as a fount of information and knowledge; each page has been written on from corner to corner in small text too hard for most people to read.
Meat Hook and Chain - He didn't pick this; this is Dameon's idea. An old, sharp, tetanus-infested hook on a sturdy chain used for combat if they should ever need it. It spends most of its time either around Delsin's waist like a makeshift belt or hanging up in his room.

Additional:
     - Since Dameon can control his left hand, Delsin's ambidextrous. Occasionally, if his left hand is doing something, it'll stop and sometimes even start doing something else.
     - Delsin and sleep don't get along - he won't talk about it but he doesn't get as much sleep as he wants/needs and what sleep he DOES get doesn't feel like he's been sleeping.
     - He's very gentle around all animals. That being said, he still hates and is preeeetty allergic to birds[feathers]. [[ Dameon finds this simultaneously annoying and amusing ]]
     - Let's say he's touch-based. He won't touch people unless initiated but loves different textures of things (particularly soft bags or mesh rubbing against itself).
     - He hates when his hands are dry, stressing him out and saying it ruins the way things feel.
     - On rare instances, he'll accidentally refer to himself as "we" - he'll catch himself soon after and apologise. A lot. He tries to keep Dameon a secret. Dameon tries to keep Dameon a secret, too - it's just more fun to watch Delsin try to explain things and come off as crazy. No one'll believe him one of these days.
     - He goes on a very strict "don't ask, don't tell" policy, but only when it comes to himself - if people don't ask, he won't tell. However, he'll ask all the questions about other people.
     - His right eye, despite discolouration and the scar, is still functional - and it glows when he's not feeling himself.
     - Despite his personality, attitude and disposition, Delsin isn't easy to actually scare, nor does he have a fear of death.
     - He hates that thing that people (namely teenagers) do where they litter punctuation and random letter clusters in their writing or speech; it's probably because writing and reading is so important to him, he sees that stuff as superlative, superficial and just... annoying. Dameon agrees if only because he hates teenagers. And everything else.
     - Not a bad singer, actually. He likes harmonizing. He also attempted to take up the guitar - it didn't really stick. He does harbour a soft spot for acoustic guitar, though. Also he's rather fond of electro-swing, though he considers this embarrassing.

RP Method

Skype is your best bet. I don't frequent dA as often as I used to and the note system doesn't have a tendency to be my friend so I don't really use notes anymore LOL - though I can definitely use 'em if that's someone's preference. I'm also not a biiig fan of comment RPs for some reason. Too public, I think. I like reading a lot and I like writing a lot so regardless of what style you like, I have a tendency to make long novel-like replies in third person past-tense. I'm terrible with script. Also headcanons are a thing and they're a fun thing and hit me up to talk about headcanons

I'm not a fan of smut or sexy things because... I dunno, it's just boring to me, I suppose? I do like angsty stuff and gory stuff, scary stuff

I'M GONNA CRY Tinsley would relate to Delsin so much about possession!!

Delsin finds an envelope addressed to him inside one of his books. It contains $50. Sweet! Also, if you listen to it too closely, the currency seems to whisper... but overall, it's still functional money!
