The sun was just beginning to rise that same morning when Bianca said she was feeling well enough to bring the cubs up to Pride Rock with Chaka to show the royal family the kingdoms’ heir. Chaka was a bit nervous and made sure to be very gentle as he carried his precious newborn up the slope of Pride Rock with Bianca and their other cub right behind him. At the top, Queen Kiara was already waiting. Bianca laid back down and held her two cubs in her arms, the warmth of the sun rising on her back. Kiara was over joyed when she realized there were actually two cubs, and she beckoned Shani and Kovu to come see.

“Oh Bianca, they’re beautiful!” Shani said as one cub reached up to touch her paw. Kiara and Kovu congratulated them both, and asked if they had named them yet. Chaka smiled. “Well, we each named one.” He replied. “So I named our son, Naba.” He said quite proudly. “And I decided to name our daughter, Aisha.” Bianca said as she licked the golden cub.

After visiting with the cubs, Kiara went and sat with Chaka. “I sent Moja to gather every animal in the Pridelands for the presentation of Naba and Aisha, including your aunt and cousin. I don’t know if they’ll be able to make it because of Kuli’s pregnancy though.” She said.

As the sun continued to rise, animals from all over began to crowd at the base of Pride Rock. Kovu had Moja retrieve the Shamen Nefu for the ceremony, and he arrived with embracing arms, hugging the new parents. Nefu smeared a fruity paste on Naba’s forehead to bless Chaka’s heir to the throne, picked him up, and held him high above the crowd for all to see. All the animals cheered and bowed in respect for the cub. He then laid Naba back in Bianca’s arms, picked up Aisha, and presented her as well, and again, the animals cheered.

With Vitani getting old and Nuka’s Pride only consisting of the three still, hunting bigger meals was usually out of the question, unless it happened to be old or sick. The mother and son returned from their evening hunt with a small gazelle. The sun had disappeared over the horizon only moments ago, and darkness was already upon them. As they approached Kuli by their home under a tree, Vitani began to slow as she sensed something was up. Nuka could only look at her confused since his mouth was full from carrying their dinner by the neck. As she got closer to Kuli, she realized from her erratic breathing she was in labor, and hushed Nuka away. They ate at a distance from Kuli in silence and excitement, keeping an even sharper watch for danger at the moment. Finally a few hours later, Kuli looked over her shoulder to beckon them to come back. Vitani brought a leg over they’d saved for her while Nuka ran to her as fast as he could. He searched her empty paws and down her body until he finally saw a tiny bundle of fur curled next to her belly. “She looks a lot like you, dear.” Vitani said when she approached the cub. “You’re amazing.” Nuka told Kuli, and she smiled as she laid her head back down to sleep. Nuka laid beside Kuli and the cub to keep her warm, and Vitani rolled over on his other side.

“Are you going to name her?” She asked her son. Nuka looked at his daughter as she slept, and thought in silence. “I don’t know what to call her.” He said blankly. Vitani chuckled. “I always said if I had a female cub, I’d name her Shetani.” She said. Nuka smirked. “Ha, but instead you got stuck with me.” He then thought for a moment. “Shetani’s a pretty name. If Kuli likes it, I think it’d be perfect.” “I do like it.” Kuli suddenly said, her eyes still closed but with a smile on her face. And with that, Nuka leaned down and licked Shetani from head to tiny tail. “My baby girl, Shetani.”
