That is so classy! I love mustangs! My dream car is a Mustang Shelby gt500 in a metallic midnight blue with white racing stripes.

B e a u t i f u l subject, but the photo needs some tuning in my opinion - the reflection is a bit too bright.

Thank you! Glad to see another person who appreciates the classics! Though I don't really know what to do about the shinyness, everything there was so damn well polished! XD

Where I went to 5th and 6th grade (1969-71, the height of the muscle car era, we would watch the cars go by during recess.

There's a thing about these cars that I can't describe and that's why I like them.

Captain-Varro In reply to AnthroOptimist [2008-11-30 23:32:29 +0000 UTC]

They have a character and appeal that modern cars lack, a unique feel. I'd take a classic muscle car over a modern one any day.

AnthroOptimist In reply to Captain-Varro [2008-12-01 11:20:46 +0000 UTC]

yeah I guess you said it for me... Modern cars with they're ABS and ESP and another things... They're just no fun anymore. There are still some nice modern cars, but they're too expensive.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Captain-Varro In reply to AnthroOptimist [2008-12-01 16:04:36 +0000 UTC]

ABS is nice, and so is fuel injection and airbags. But that's about all I want in the way of modern features, don't care much for the computers cheapo and plastic interiors that try to be classy when they aren't. Most of other luxuries like cruise control and AC are pretty ancient systems any ways.

Nice thing about an old car is no damned monthly payments!

AnthroOptimist In reply to Captain-Varro [2008-12-01 17:08:16 +0000 UTC]

well I don't have anything against airbags... and ABS is good in normal life, but sometimes I like to... eh... have fun and in most of the cars you can't turn it off.

and you said that the squad cars you guys have suck, so, why shouldn't you have fun?

AnthroOptimist In reply to Glenhallprotectorite [2009-01-16 18:21:05 +0000 UTC]

Well, you cant drift in it cause traction control. No burnout for the same reason. Speed control chip. Things that go peep-peep when you don't have a seat belt. It's really disturbing.

Glenhallprotectorite In reply to AnthroOptimist [2009-01-17 21:49:15 +0000 UTC]

ya. But there are reasons not to do some of that stuff. As for speed control chips, I've never heard of them.

AnthroOptimist In reply to Glenhallprotectorite [2009-01-17 21:57:23 +0000 UTC]

American cars don't have them? Well in Europe some engineers had a weird idea to control the horses under the hood so they'll wont get too wild. Assholes.

Glenhallprotectorite In reply to AnthroOptimist [2009-01-17 22:24:29 +0000 UTC]

hmmm... interesting. I never knew that. And you can't disable it? Wait! today is Saturday! how are you online? Not at school on Saturday are you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnthroOptimist In reply to Glenhallprotectorite [2009-01-18 19:48:30 +0000 UTC]

Eh I think playing with the chip if you're not a professional and you don't have allowance by police is illegal. And most of the cars has it coded so you don't break into it so easily. I think its there for emission and fuel flow regulation or something. Good thing there's chiptuning.

My planned first car is sorta old school; an 87 Volvo 740 Turbo Intercooler, needs some repairs, but my Dad used to be a mechanic (and has done restorations like in the photo for people) and I started autoshop at school, so I'll bring it back to life soon enough.
