Jonathan Creek has a great concept but a terrible execution, but I still think that it can be done better. So, I thought about how it could work, and I thought that "hay, American are into Magicians and murder mysteries, so why not Jonathan Creek in American?". There wore attempts to make an American version of Jonathan Creek in America (one involving Woopy Goldberg) but details of this are sears at best. For this I imaged a world where a version was made in 2004 after the fourth series of Jonathan Creek had ended, and Joss Whedon made an American version staring Heath Ledger as Jonathon (here David) and Alyson Hannigan as Maddie (here Maggy), in this world Heath Ledger don't die and dose on the make the rest of the series. For the pilot episode I thought they would do a TV movie based on the Christmas Special "Black Canary" with the introductory elements of the first episode "The Wrestler's Tomb", the first real episode of the series in based on the first episode of series two "Danse Macabre".

Brief Synopsis:

He makes a living, creating magic tricks for TV Magician Adam Klaus but when he meets Journalist, Criminologist, and controversial author “Maggy Magellan” he becomes involved in a series of strange murder cases outside of the polices understand or comprehension. Using in unique mind and skills as a magician, he solves impossible crimes and together with Maggy and Detective Gideon Pryke, he must battle not only dangerous criminals but also his schizophrenia and mental health.
