International Dark Sky Week- April 20-26th

Ever wish that you could lookout like this on a clear night and see the sky packed full of stars?

Less than a third of the worldwide population and 1% of the continental USA population lives under truly, unpolluted from light, starry skies. Do you?

I took this panorama a few weeks ago on my way home from doing a presentation on the night sky. The small community left of center has a population of about 1000 people and has a great lighting policy. You can see that there is hardly any light being wasted into the night sky and stars are visible right down to the horizon above the town. Where as the city on the right of frame is full of unshielded lighting that are simply wasting light and energy into the sky and blocking out the stars that we all love.
