About a 1,5 hour (not entirely sure haha) single-layer speedpainting. No references used. I intended to draw a dragon, but it ended up quite differently! I really enjoyed this

It looks like a type of dragon of a game I used to play a loooong time ago on genesis. He had a beautiful power, lightning all over the place, and .. it's in youtube lol 
He flashes lightning all over and destroys enemies, it was my favourite companion

I think it really shows if an artist enjoys the subject he or she paints. Here, I can see you really enjoyed this because of the attention to detail to put in the face ^^ small small wrinkles and feathers.

Amazing, one of the best close-ups of a phoenix I've seen! The style and colors look almost like the original covers on Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle, just not dragons. Love it!

Yeah, the faces are off on those. But it was more the neck-shape and coloring that kinda reminded me of the dragons here. I like the phoenix face much better

Oddly enough I'm starting to find artist's quick pieces, sketches, and process work just as interesting (if not more so, in a few cases XDD) than their finalized and polished pieces-- especially when they are as good at it as you are~

This is just superb! What a regal-looking beastie! I just love the level of detail on the face - that eye is so sharp and alert! The contrast of the bigger, softer feathers used on the back of the head and neck works beautifully in keeping the focus on the creature's face. Even then, the big feathers on the neck look dense and very soft due to the impressive shading
